TheManKnownAsHoid
So Gavilar gives the black sphere to Eshonai to give to the Five the day of his assassination. But then he gives another to Szeth and tells him to keep it from the Parshendi? I'm very confused
RShara she/her
You need to mark this as OB Spoilers. But here is a recent thread about it.
Calderis he/him
First off, he was delirious enough and dying to give the thing he was asking to be protected, as well as a message to Dalinar, to the man who'd just killed him. Secondly, if he was coherent enough to understand what was going on, which I don't think he was, he'd just acknowledged that the Parshendi were the ones that sent Szeth, so I doubt they were also the "they" in that sentence. Ripheus23
Maybe it's a Dawnshard. According to the thread RShara linked to, Sanderson has apparently said that Book 3 explains what the sphere is, and although the tentative consensus over there seems to be Spoiler that it's related to Unmade-traps or suchlike, I feel instead that Spoiler if humans were the original followers of Odium, and destroyed their original world (Braize? turned it into "Damnation" maybe?) using the Dawnshards, then if the sphere is related to Voidlight, maybe it's a crystal related to Odium and, hence, a Dawnshard. Although now that I think of it, IIRC Book 1 says something about the Dawnshards being able to bind beings of some kind...
