Question about Nightblood

So Nightbloods sheathe is made of aluminium, right? And that stops him from being able to eat anyone's Investiture. So if you made a gauntlet out of aluminium would you be able to wield Nightblood without having to keep up a constant stream of Investiture?

This would vary depending on the source. He would definitely try to feed on a source, but that doesn't mean that he could. For instance

For the Dor... He can't even feed directly on them through a person in the same way.

So Nightblood needs kinetic Investiture to feed upon. The Elantrian would have to be able to get a conduit to the Dor to feed Nightblood or Nightblood would just eat their soul.

As to what he does with his investiture. He leaks. The smoke/liquid that he emits is the investiture that he's absorbed leaking back out.

My headcanon is that Nightblood would stop being awesomely destructive if his user stopped feeding him Investiture, either as a result of dying or through a hack.

That said, once the blade is barred Nightblood appears to be able to suck Investiture in to some extent, including forcing people wielding him to be unable to release his handle. If that didn't let him start drinking up his holders Investiture through the aluminum gauntlet he might start screaming into their brain until they couldn't think or act under their own power (highly speculative).

Definitely an interesting proposal though.

@hwiles that makes sense but what about if Nightblood had an external source of Investiture? Like in the middle of a Highstorm or if the Dor is something Nightblood can absorb directly without using someone as a conduit. 

 

Edit: also, how would Nightblood function of he's being used without a source of Investiture? As a regular sword or still as a supercharged one? I wonder this because of a couple WoB I saw recently about how Nightblood is slowly consuming the Investiture in the cosmere, but since Investiture cannot be destroyed maybe he's storing it but can't use it??? Idk
