Agent34 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 I haven't seen anyone else say this so I'll just put it here, the level of brokenness we've seen from characters like Kaladin and Shallan aren't the standard. A person being broken is something that's believed to be required in-world but not necessarily required for a bond. Cracks in the spiritweb are needed but a broken person may not be needed in every case.

Subvisual Haze Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 It must be the most crushing and dispiriting thing ever to live on Roshar, the planet where magic powers are given out on a meritocratic basis. Sure it sucks to be one of the normies on a place like Scadrial, but at least you can attribute that to the bad luck of the genetic draw. On Roshar though, it's a direct judgement of you as a person whether you can draw the favor of a spren. 2
