My bet is, his parents aren't in the town anymore.

I know his dad really insisted in staying, even when it wasn't making any sense, but then he had hopes to cling to, with his plans for Kal.

I think it may make a better story, if Kaladin goes there, had to confront Roshone (I'm really looking toward that :] ), and then has to hunt for his parents while obeing Dalinar's instructions.

Totally agree. I can see him arriving to find only Roshone and then having to decide whether to go look for his parents or help save Kholinar.

Also, Kal's parents are definitely alive. There'd be no real plot otherwise.
