Inkthinker Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) So, at long last, it finally comes. http://www.crafty-games.com/content/mistborn-adventure-game-pre-order-details?utm_source=bsand&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=magpre From the page: Based on the best-selling novels by Brandon Sanderson and powered by an all new story-driven rules system, the Mistborn Adventure Game lets you explore, command, or liberate the oppressed world of Scadrial, battle the Lord Ruler’s Inquisitors, and master the primal forces of Allomancy, Feruchemy, and Hemalurgy. It features new official fiction from Mr. Sanderson himself and loads of never-before-seen material, making it the ultimate resource for fans of the novels and those who want to experience the Final Empire firsthand. The book also features about 30 illustrations drawn by yours truly. I busted some hump to try and match well with Brandon's written words, and he and Peter have been pretty good about keeping me on the right track. I think if you liked the work I've done before, you'll be happy with what I've done here. I hope you check it out! Edited July 31, 2011 by Inkthinker 4
Chaos he/him Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 That is an extremely trippy cover image, Ink. I love it. I'm excited to see what other awesome stuff you've done in there! That said... I'm going to pre-order this solely for the additional material on the Final Empire. I don't really have anyone around town to game with, but new content makes it worthwhile! I pride myself in being insane enough to spend $50 for information. Also, because I need to check how the new content meshes with what we've done our Mistborn forum RPG here. But mostly, new content! Wee!
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 If it wasn't coming out in November, I'd be ready to pre-order it RIGHT NOW. That said, this'll be on my list of things to get once I get off my mission. Hopefully I'd be able to wrangle enough people from my current D&D group to play it with me. Some of them have read Mistborn. But like Chaos, I'd probably get it just for the sake of getting all that information. Also, the cover art is GORGEOUS.
whynaut Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) I have been blinded by how awesome that is . I know I'll never be able to play it with anyone in my hometown, but I would love to read the additional content, the game mechanics, and of course your art work. Edited July 31, 2011 by whynaut
SOM1else he/him Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) You should add this to the news section Chaos, that way everyone can see it. Edited July 31, 2011 by SOM1else
Chaos he/him Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 You should add this to the news section Chaos, that way everyone can see it. Yup. It was on my agenda for today.
Mad_Scientist he/him Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 That is an extremely trippy cover image, Ink. I love it. I'm excited to see what other awesome stuff you've done in there! I agree, the odd perspective gives it a really unique feel. I'm guessing this game is where the promised Kelsier backstory will be unveiled.

Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Heck, it comes out in November, right? Someone should bring it to Alloy of Law!
Squallor he/him Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Check me in the box for people who are buying it even though I have no one to play it with. Too bad he isn't coming to Boston for the AoL tour, I might be inclined to nerd it up for an evening if there were others nearby to play it with. *goes back to reminiscing Junior High when I actually played RPGs*
Chaos he/him Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Brandon confirmed that indeed, this is where the Kelsier backstory with Gemmel will be revealed.
Emeralis00 she/her Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 WANT! WANT! WANT! WANT! Nao. I am sooo pre-ordering this.
Inkthinker Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 I agree, the odd perspective gives it a really unique feel. Thanks everyone! The perspective was composed in order to give you that "flying through the sky" feeling, bearing in mind that Mistborn don't fly so much as fling themselves around. You can orient the image this way, turn it upside-down, or lay it on its side, and all those options are "right". It's placed this way partly to put the sympathetic focus on the Mistborn rather than the Inquisitor (by keeping him right-side up), and to allow space for the text. I'm hoping an eventual poster version without text will allow you to hang it whichever way you like. I kinda like it upside-down, myself.

I tried spinning the image on my computer, and you're right when you say it looks right (and equally interesting) regardless of what side it is on. I also noticed while spinning picture that the mists are swirling around the mistborn. For some reason, I didn't notice it until I had the picture rightside-up(/upside-down?).
Eerongal he/him Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 To everyone who says they're gonna buy it despite not having anyone to play with: You could play with each other. ScreenMonkey. Sadly, since I moved up to Iowa and away from weekly gaming group, i as well fall into this category 1

Cuaiir he/him Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 And only the GM needs the program, according to the site. So, whoever wants to host a Mistborn RPG campaign will have plenty of players available! (Hint: I want to play too, but can't afford the book )

(Hint: I want to play too, but can't afford the book ) yup. the GM hosts a server and gives everyone else a web link that runs through a web browser. I've used it before, the program is pretty slick. Does dice rolls, hides the map (and lets the GM clear it as the players get to areas), even lets you store character stats. It's pretty nice.
Kuri Shardweaver he/him Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 This makes me happy in ways I cannot describe without interpretive dance.
Inkthinker Posted August 6, 2011 Author Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) This probably won't get addressed until later in the week, but if anyone's had a chance to see the primer and previews at Gen-Con, I'd love to hear what you thought of it! Word from the guys at Crafty is that there's been a lot of excitement and positive response so far. Edited August 6, 2011 by Inkthinker
