So I am aware that she can make herself frictionless but is she able to do the opposite?

I am halfway through Edgedancer and so far every time she seemed to increase her friction she was touching Wyndle so I was uncertain if she was doing it or the contact with Wyndle was what was causing it.

If she can increase her friction without touching Wyndle, could she then run through the air by making the bottom of her feet have enough friction with the air to take a step, remove it, and repeat the process?

Welcome to the shard! :) It's a good question

from the coppermind wiki here we know that

Quote

They have the Surge of Abrasion. This grants them the ability to manipulate friction. They can apply this in different ways; they can make their feet nearly frictionless, they can escape any grasp, or grip the slickest walls.

So with the gripping of the slickest walls part I would say she definitely can increase friction though I'm not sure she realizes it yet.

as for your walking on air I have no idea though that is an interesting point because she does seem to have an affect on air drag so it stands to reason that she should be able to slow her descent drastically though I'm not sure about stopping or standing on air as that is a LOT of force.

I personally doubt walking on air is possible. Yes she could increase the friction of the air she's touching and her foot, but I'd imagine that the air below that would still move away.

Shed have to essentially create a pillar of solid air between her feet and the ground and I don't think that would be possible through friction alone.
