harry31j97 he/him Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 In chapter 68, when Kaladin tells Syl that he's no Knight, that he's broken, she replies that they all were broken. Is this something significant like snapping being a prerequisite for being a mistborn or a misting? All KR (or even potential ones like Lift or Ylm) we've seen so far have had a troubled past (except may be Renarin, about whom we don't know much, & Adolin who we saw was at the edge of breaking down near end of WoR).

Cracknut he/him Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Renarin and Adolin could've had a hard childhood. Dead mother + bloodthirsty warlord as their father... I wouldn't be surprised if something went wrong along the way. I don't think its a requirement though, but the harder the world, the fiercer the honor, right?

This is a man that can't fight in a society that basically deems you only worthy if you can fight or become a priest of the church. His whole family are strong fighters who helped carve out their current kingdom. He sees himself as worthless and even then continues to try.
