ian Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I was scouring Brandon's official website when I stumbled upon something pretty major that I didn't even know existed. How many people here are aware that Brandon had a sample chapter for Scribbler (the Rithmatist) posted on his site. I read it and it was quite amazing and I'm sure it will shed some light on shards that we don't know about yet.On the main page of the site click on welcome then scroll down almost all the way to the bottom to the section called bonus material. On the right side next to the paragraph are three links the last of which is the Scribbler sample chapter. The description states that Brandon posted it there as a thanks to all the people who read the entire welcome page. It is just a taste of what is to come but I already have a theory of what the shard might be, I think it might be Order.
Zas678 he/him Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Afraid not. Brandon has said that both Scribbler and Alcatraz aren't in the cosmere. Sorry!
ian Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 Afraid not. Brandon has said that both Scribbler and Alcatraz aren't in the cosmere. Sorry! When did he say that? When he first mentioned the book on his blog it said it was set in the Cosmere.
firstRainbowRose she/her Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Can we have a link to the blog post stating that it's part of the cosmere? I remember when he first started writing this (for a crazy true story, find out how long he took to write the last half.) It's an alt-history where America is a set of islands, and there's this crazy guy going around killing Rhythmatic students.
ian Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 I reread the article were he first mentions it. It doesn't say that it is a cosmere book but it doesn't say that it isn't either, it is kind of inconclusive. The sample chapter did however make it seem like it could very well be part of the cosmere and i know what i'm talking about when it comes to the cosmere.

Brandon has conclusively stated that it is not. I've confirmed the full list of planned cosmere novels with him, and Scribbler isn't on that list. I can understand thinking that it is, what with the very defined magic system and all, but the book is set in an alt-history America, and America (and all of Earth, alternate or not) is not in the cosmere. Sorry!
