Could you (hypothetically) push/pull on lerasium?

Lord Bookwyrm

Question

1) Basically what it says in the title. Would an allomancer be able to push on a piece of lerasium?

Reason for inquiry: in Stormlight, it is mentioned that shardplate and shardblades cannot be affected by the Surges. Sp & Sb are basically concentrated Investiture. In Mistborn (the series), it is also mentioned that hemalurgically and feruchemically charged metal are harder to affect with allomancy than metals without a charge. Basically, what the question is actually saying is 'does how much Investiture something holds affect how much it can be affected by Investiture? Because if it does then you wouldn't be able to affect lerasium. Otherwise, you would be able to push on lerasium.

Yes an Allomancer could easily push/pull on Lerasium or godmetals in general (for example we saw this with the Atium). And yes, an Invested object is more hard to affect with other Investiture. (as @manukos already pointed out)

How both this are true ? Simply a godmetal isn't high Invested. It's simply Investiture into solid form but he isn't made of MORE investiture than regular matter...How this is possible is still unknown and there are speculation about but no an official explaination

It's a little more complicated than that. Lerasium would be more difficult to push on than atium, because it is inherently invested beyond just the matter it's composed of, which is why it wouldn't work well for hemalurgy.

What would happen if you used lerasium as a spike for Hemalurgy?

Brandon Sanderson

Oh lerasium as a spike for Hemalurgy? Um lerasium as a spike for Hemalurgy--

Questioner 1

Would it work or would it just not work?

Brandon Sanderson

No I mean it would work--

Questioner 1

If you were to place a lerasium spike would you transform into a full Mistborn as opposed to--

Questioner 2

Well it can also steal powers, not just grant them, right?

Brandon Sanderson

Um, right. The thing about it is you're trying to Invest something that is already very Invested, which always has weird effects. So while you could do it, it would be a gross waste of the potential. It's like using a nuclear bomb as a paperweight. It is functional but--

Questioner 1

Does that mean it would be hard, for example, to make Nightblood stick something? Because--

Brandon Sanderson

Yes it would be very hard to make Nightblood stick to something. The amount of Investiture in Nightblood is--

Astronomical?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes. Larger than most things you've seen. So Pushing on Nightblood, really hard.

Same with Shardblades and Plate. The investiture in the metal has to be overcome to push. So it's resistant, but not immune.
