Necessary Eagle she/her
I thought Celebrant was a place in Middle-earth, but I didn't get around to looking it up until just now. Not only that, it's a river- and Shadesmar cities correspond to bodies of water. Any other shout-outs you've found? dantlee
None come to mind immediately, but I found it really funny (and slightly out-of-place) when Brandon used the word "straight-up" in one of Shallan's chapters. Quote In some ways, Jasnah seemed fiercely masculine. She studied whatever she pleased, and she talked tactics as easily as she talked poetry. She could be aggressive, even cold -- Shallan had seen her straight-up execute thieves who had tried to rob her. I don't think I've seen such casual American slang used in any of his other books, at least not in-world.
