I was reading random wor chapters and thus read the rsyn interlude and the lift interlude consecutively. The caused me to realize the creature that rsyn receives for her efforts is described exactly the same as the one nale uses to suck stormlught from lift and disarm her. They are both described as crem with winds and it seems to be the same creature!! Has this been noticed before? Do we know anything about this creature from wob? I  for one have been totally wondering what’s rsyn s role sa and hope to read about her Tuesday!!

The creature is a Larkin. For more info on it see here and here.

Yeah, it's a larkin. It's the same animal depicted in the background of the surgebinding chart. I also think that Peter mentioned that it's the larvae of the lanceryn, which are thought to be extinct.

He did.

Larkin and lanceryn
1. In WoK, Jasnah's mention of this lanceryn befuddled me a lot. We know that it is a kind of greatshell with gemhearts native to Aimia, but except this, we know nothing. The translator interpreted it as "lance-beast". I suspect he got it inspired because "lanceryn" is similar to "lance", which is a kind of weapon. I'd like to know whether this name origins from "lance" or not. If not, could you simply describe how this creature actually looks like, so I can come up with a new term? (I'm not sure if the former translator has ever contacted you.)
2. So larkins are more like flying insects? I imagine they are a mixture of crab (or any crustacean), wasp and little dragon. Is that okay? (Do larkins really have reddish/brown crusts?)
Peter
The lanceryn and larkin are two names for the same creature. When it says lanceryn, it’s definitely referring only to the enormous greatshell version that is believed to be extinct. The name is not related to “lance”…I think. The small larkin can be considered the cremling/larva version of the lanceryn.

I'm curious why Arcanum doesn't appear to have any of the entries from Botanica's chats with Peter in 2015 and 2016. Anyone on the Arcanum team know why that is? I know the canonocity is less certain because they are from Peter, but shouldn't they be included in some form?

My understanding is that Peter sometimes lies, so the canonical value of WoP can be somewhat less than "less certain."

He had a good amount of "I think" or "Not sure, but" making it clear where he didn't feel authoritative, and I feel that he sounded genuine enough in these entries, but it's no big deal. I was largely curious, since they'd been collecting what felt like everything to put on the Arcanum, leaving something out felt odd.
