The theory is that Spoiler the shadow creature that Shallan chases from the theatre is either an Unmade or Midnight Essence there's also a theory that it's a Kandra, but that's pretty far out there. I get that, but I have seen people saying that the Unmade are in Urithiru as if it was confirmed and common knowledge. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a crucial WoB or read over a significant detail. Theories are one thing but facts are another.

People are just taking it as given.
dvoraen Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Personally, I don't think the entity Shallan saw is one of the Unmade. A Splinter of Odium doesn't really strike me as something that would run away from a not-fully-sworn Radiant without him/her being a significant threat. I think what we're seeing in Urithiru is a "curse" brought about by the presence or the attention of an Unmade. It's the source of what's going on, but it's not what's directly causing the "mirrored" violence. I'd say it's some poor soul that got shackled into detecting and re-enacting violent acts, and is likely not the only one doing it.

We have WoB that not all Unmade are intelligent like the higher order spren that we know about. That said, we've not seen nearly all of the Ten Deaths which don't appear to be Unmade themselves. My vote is for something similar but different to the Midnight Essence.
