[OB] When will Sigzil lend his expertise?

The question is there in the title. Was i the only one who read chapter 8 and thought "this looks like a job for Sigzil!?"

Seriously, the dude is a Worldsinger and can speak in detail concerning the customs, policies, and and governing bodies of each major nation. He's also, seemingly, well traveled and could even speak from experience.

 

It seems a waste for him to be searching tunnels.

If Kaladin or Wit were in that meeting it would have come up. I think this is a case of lack of information though. 

Dalinar doesn't yet know that Sigzil has the expertise to help, and Sigzil doesn't know he's needed.

I agree with Calderis, nodoby at the meeting could know It.

Maybe Renarin has a chance to have this bit of Information. But It's not sure and by the way It's possible the rest of the Bridge 4 Will tell him if the problem arose outside the "leading group"

I was actually pretty underwhelmed by Sigzil's attempt at quantifying Kaladin's abilities. While the fundamental issue Sigzil brings up is valid (he has no easy way to measure amount of Stormlight) he doesn't do anything to even approach the problem.

I'm not really sure there's anything in Sigzil background that would make him particularly suited for investigative work. If anything, Shallan is probably the best suited given her Memory, experience in cons, and scientific background; the best possible choice of the known characters is probably Jasnah, and Shallan is basically baby Jasnah.

This isn't about investigation. This is about the diplomatic outreach to the other kingdoms. 

Sigzil's knowledge of other kingdoms and their cultures as a world singer is ideal for a diplomat.

Wit did train him for a reason.  Unless you think he just wanders around randomly taking apprentices for years and then just abandoning them.  But he seems like a bit more of a planner and schemer to me.
