Chachel she/her Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 CALLING ALL DETECTIVES! On more than a couple places online, I've seen mysterious spren appearing around dead chasmfiends mentioned. However, after searching the book I cannot find it. Are these mystery spren ever mentioned or described? Or are people confusing shardblade-caused smoke for spren? I need to know if there really are chasmfiend spren for the spren catalogue. Anyone have any clue?

It's good to see that there actually are spren mentioned alongside chasmfiends; it means the online references weren't COMPLETELY off-base. Just mostly off-base. Unless we can find a quote to strongly suggest the mystery spren exist, I'll delete all mention of them from the spren pages.

Edit- Found it. pg 224- Dalinar looked up at the hulking carcass. Tiny, near invisible spren were floating out of the beast's body, vanishing into the air. They looked like the tongues of smoke that might come off a candle after being snuffed. Nobody knew what kind of spren they were; you only saw them around the freshly killed bodies of greatshells. 1

Great find! I was looking around chasmfiend and forgot that was just another name for really big greatshells so I wasn't searching for that keyword when I looked. Interesting that they only come from the dead bodies of greatshells...
