Question

I dont really get the the thing åwith the Feruchemical aluminum. I know it stores connection, and I know that it can make metalminds usable by anyone, which is why Wayne can use the metalmind he finds in BoM. I just don't get the mechanics of it. Like, if an aluminum ferring fills a metalmind, could a gold ferring then store health in that same metalmind, and have anyone use it?

This is probably poorly worded, but if someone tried to answer, it would be appreciated.

I know it stores connection,

Aluminum actually stores Identity. Connection is stored by duralumin.

As for unkeyed metalminds, e.g. the unkeyed goldmind that Wayne uses in BoM, this is how they work (let's use unkeyed gold as an example):

  1. A person first needs to have both Aluminum Feruchemy and Gold Feruchemy (in the case of the Set, they do this via Hemalurgy).
  2. The person first stores his Identity in an aluminummind.
  3. The now Identity-less person then stores Health in a goldmind.
  4. The goldmind now has Identity-less Feruchemical Health. It is not keyed to a particular Identity, hence the "unkeyed" part of the term.

So as you can see, the trick is for the Aluminum Feruchemist and the Gold Feruchemist to be the same person. And of course, we mustn't forget the limitation of unkeyed metalminds: In the case of the unkeyed goldmind, only other Gold Feruchemists can use the unkeyed Health.

Aluminum feruchemy stores identity. The idea of an unkeyed metalmind (and they are not my specialty) is if someone with aluminum and, say, gold feruchemy they can store their Identity in the aluminum metalmind, which makes them have no identity, and at the same time fill the gold metalmind. Because they have no identity while they do that, the gold metalmind is not keyed to a particular identity, which means any gold feruchemist can tap it.

Edit - ninja'd by a better answer :D
