Alright, I just finished a reread of Words of Radiance and the last page got me thinking. Wit and Jasnah are speaking and Wit(Hoid) asks her "You're so convinced that there is no God." She started to reply about the Almighty and he cut her off saying "I don't mean the Almighty. Tanavast was a fine enough fellow--bought me drinks once--but he was not God." .

Then I thought about the conversation Dalinar had just had with the Stormfather where he referred to the Almightys visions and spoke of a Champion who could fight a God. Well, from Mistborn, we saw that in order to fight a God, you pretty much have to BE a God. And when a God dies, their powers can be absorbed. Splinters can be reunited, as we saw with Sazed. I heard somewhere that Odium chose not to take up Slivers which he could have. Maybe when the Slivers or whatever they are called are all absorbed by one person, Adonalsium will be reborn. I'm thinking the overall scheme of the Cosmere is the new Honor teaming up with Sazed and others Gods and eventually reforming the one true God. What do you guys think?

This is all purely hypothetical and just for fun/an excuse for me to procrastinate.

So, when Ati and Vin died and a person who had just enough of Preservation and Ruin in them (Sazed) was present, he was able to take up both shards. Would it, just hypothetically, be possible to take ALL THE SHARDS if the vessels were all killed at the same time/gave their power up (I read somewhere this is possible, don't have the WoB right now, might look for it later) and a suitable "host" was present, thus, basically, recreating Adonalsium???

Or alternatively to go and collect the powers of the shards one after another?

This is just something I thought of and would like to read people's ideas and opinions on.

I don't know if this has been suggested before but I have a theory as to what Hoid is up to. I think his quest is to reforge Adonalsium by traveling to each of the shard worlds, collecting a splinter of each shard, and then combining them. I think this would then either cause a cascade effect across the cosmere or create a new cosmere (mini verse) with him as the vessel for the Adonalsium. I do think it's more likely the former because of some of the things he has said on Roshar. He said things like "though I care for this world I will watch it burn to get what I need". I think this implies that he would ascend into the current cosmere and be able to restore the planet in a similar fashion as Sazed when he ascended to become Harmony. Thoughts?

I have a theory as to what Hoid is trying to do. Adonalsium was shattered into 16 different shards and while it may be to hard to start collecting the full power of the shards Hoid is trying to make himself a mini Adonalsium by collecting a bit of each shards power. What would that end up making him? Has anyone suggested this before?

This is the most common first theory people post. I am not a fan, but there are plenty of people who would agree with you.

I found this today and since I asked this too some time ago I'm gonna leave this here:

QUESTION

Would it be possible to create a potential Vessel that has a Connection to all 16 Shards? Through a combination of birth planet, genetics, Hemalurgy...

BRANDON SANDERSON

[Hems and Haws] You… So, terminology--the Vessel holds the Shard. Lots of people have connection to Shards without holding them. So, I’m just gonna RAFO that. You guys got YEARS AND YEARS left, before we’re even gonna discuss. But if I tell you now...like...what are you gonna ask?

QUESTION

So I got a bit of a Shard-related question. So, the entity that Harmony is, all the other Shards that we’ve had named so far, are any of them combinations, or are they all--

BRANDON SANDERSON

Okay, good question. The only one I would count as a combination is the Dor, right? But it isn’t even a full Shard. So everything else--single holder only when we talk about it okay? That’s an excellent question. Or they’ve been Splintered completely.

Of course, Hoid himself pokes holes in this theory in The Way of Kings, pointing out you'd at best have a Frankenstein patchwork of the god you started with if you reassembled Adonalsium. So whatever he's doing, he's certainly thinking that there's problems with bringing the same thing back, but maybe- just maybe, for those who like this theory- he thinks it should be replaced with something similar.

Wow...I haven't felt like such a newb in years. I like the point Ari brings up about Hoid in WoK. It would have to be something new, something different. Of course, the Shards influence their Vessels over time, so over time, some of those differences might fade.
