Quiver he/him Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 So... a friend of mine was just mentioning that there is some security issue with the current version of Windows, and that there was an update available for it? I admit, I know absolutely nothing about computers, so I hadn't heard anything, but... yeah. Was wondering if anyone could confirm that? (And also, how does one update an OS? I always just wait until I get a text box saying that the computer needs to restart and let it handle that stuff on it's own...)
Modal Seoul he/him Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 That issue happened to my entire neighborhood. And yes, I believe there is an update that fixes it.
Chaos he/him Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 The particular "ransomware" has already been disabled--there was apparently a kill switch in the software--and in any case the update has already rolled out to everyone. No need to worry.

Chaos he/him Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Yeah, I heard, but it still doesn't matter because Windows auto-updates to annoying degrees. 1
