This is just a quick question and probably overdue in the coming.  I apologize if someone else has already asked it, but I couldn't find an obvious topic that answered it in my search.

Real quick: Is the rewritten scene at the end of the book now part of the audiobook version of Words of Radiance?

Thanks all!!

The audiobook reads as the original hard cover release. The only book by Sanderson book that has been redone (to my knowledge) due to additional content is Elantris.

Thanks, Ammanas!  My husband was thinking of doing his reread before Oathbringer by audiobook until I mentioned not knowing if the scene had been rerecorded.  May he'll listen up to that point and then pick up our paperback copy.

@lordofarda I had completely forgotten about Graphic Audio adaption. Mostly bc I go through audible and, although I can see the appeal of graphic audio its just not my thing. Good catch.

He should stick with the original - it was a much better ending. (in my opinion, not that anyone asked for it haha)

Original isn't canon though.

.......guys.

What scene?

There was a 1v1 battle near the very end of the book, and Brandon changed how it ended.

WoR Spoilers (on off chance someone hasn't read the book)

Spoiler

Szeth vs Kaladin.

In original, Kaladin killed Szeth via Shardblade. In updated scene, Szeth gives up and lets himself fall in the storm(which kills him anyway)

Ohh, I never knew about that. Thanks for the info, going to have to look up the scene.

The original will always be my heart-canon for that scene. ;)

Wait - Szeth is alive, right?

Spoiler

Yes. He only died. He did not die die. ;)

Less sarcastically, Szeth dies at the end of WoR. In the original publication, Kaladin struck Szeth with his shardblade (Syl) and killed Szeth. In the new release of WoR, Brandon changed it so that Kaladin instead cuts Szeth's wrist and forces Szeth to drop the Honorblade; Szeth then plummets to his death.

In both cases, Nale, the Herald of Justice and leader of the Skybreakers, revives Szeth with some sort of fabrial.
