My personal theory is that they would allow the user to project bubbles around other people, similar to how malatium allows the user to see another person's alternate past.

If you can find some form of reasoning that makes those abilities fit into "expanded temporal and/or spiritual effects", then I see little reason to dispute the idea unless I come up with my own later on
