Could a Twin-born ReForge Themselves?

Recommended Posts

Allomantic gold lets the user see an alternate past version of themselves. Feruchemical aluminum stores a person's spiritual identity. If there was a Twinborn with both powers, would they be able to store the spiritual identity of their gold shadow? If so, you could possibly manipulate this in order to quickly learn/store skills, similar to how Shai spent time in other cultures and learning to Forge her identity in specific ways. An example could be spend some time in a circus, leave, and then use this process to temporarily have the skills of an acrobat. Store enough of your shadow's identity, and then repeat the process with another way of life. Would this method work for a gold-aluminum twinborn?

That would be a pretty creative way to use Investiture, but that begs the question: In another form, would you be able to find a further version of your original self? That would go to the point where you could become anyone.

This response is a whole line of "don't know" points.

We don't know if the gold identity is storable.
*English (United States) spellcheck software doesn't count storable as a word. Fascinating..

You should need to store your own identity before you can tap a different one, and at that point we don't know if the Metalmind is still able to be tapped.
It should be doable, but I don't know for sure.

We don't know if tapping a new identity is a change or an effect. An effect would only last so long as you are tapping, a change would be the new "non-storing" default.

You would need a lot of Aluminumminds to be prepped for any occasion. You'd need a Coppermind to remember which Identity is which :)

Did you mean that while they are tapping the aluminum-mind, if they burned gold they would see another alternate-past shadow? Would that just be the original version of you or would that be an alternate of your alternate?

One side would be you, the other would be an alternate's alternate.

I'm pretty sure this was their entire point. Through the paradox and back, as it were

This is the entire point. By becoming varying alternates, one could possibly find the right gold shadow to use in a specific situation, similar to Shai's soul stamps, except more powerful and more limited. Instead of being the person at this keyboard, you could tap the Identity of a master scholar, or a powerful warrior. Similar to Shai of the Fist. It would actually be pretty useful.
