In the original Mistborn Trilogy, the difficulty of hovering and/or a soft SteelPush is talked about a lot; however, in the Wax and Wayne series, Wax is able to hover quite easily. Is this because Wax can manipulate his weight instead of manipulating his push? Or is it merely because both Kelsier and Vin were Mistborn for only a little while, and did not achieve Wax's experience/savantism?

Surelly Weight manipulation helps a lot....Wax may adjust his path with a finesse that ful Mistborn would envy. Using both precise Push and the right weight

Experience is probably an element as well. Vin and Kelsier were both talented, but Wax has had twenty or thirty years to work his skills.

But you're on the money, the fact Wax can manipulate his weight helps with his Pushing. It also helps that Modern Mistborn has a lot more fixed metal.

I think part of it has to do with what Vin realizes in TFE: if you only have one metal, you get really good at using it. We never had a Coinshot viewpoint during the original trilogy (the one with the most screentime being Beldre, who didn't use her power very much at all, so she doesn't really count), so the fact that Wax can do things with steel that the Mistborn of era 1 could not shouldn't be too much of a surprise. And of course, iron Feruchemy definitely helps as well.
