Quiver he/him Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 As the title says; where did Kelsier and Vin get the sacks of boxings they must have used for all their coinshotting? My immediate assumption was that Kelsier had a stash of coins somewhere, or was stealing them from the nobles he was killing...but I don't recall them mentioning him looting the bodies, nor am I sure if nobles would carry around much loose change on their person in the Final Empire. I'm just curious since I'm sure at one point, Vin remarks that she basically throws a small fortune (at least for skaa) around carelessly, so... Yeah. Where do skaa Mistings get that kind of disposable income?

Where do skaa Mistings get that kind of disposable income? Before the incident at the Pits, Kell and his crew probably had a stash hidden somewhere, and, along with looting, et c., Clubs and the crew all had their own businesses, so I assume that they had enough clips to not worry about running out.
A Budgie she/her Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Also, since there are lots of clips on the ground from Mistborns and just Coinshots on the ground, they can probably just pick them up. It's also likely that the crew have a stash of coins somewhere to use, and even if it's not mentioned that Kelsier robs as well as kills the nobles, it's fairly possible he would do that if they were running out of clips.
Spoolofwhool Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I believe it was said that Vin would retrieve the spent boxings initially because she was still using the thrifty mindset. Other than that, I'm assuming they're using the lowest denomination coinage, so it's like throwing pennies around.
aeromancer he/him Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Well, it's not like they can iron-pull wallets to them like magical pickpockets or something... Oh, wait a moment. They can. That was always my assumption for how Kelsier filled his petty cash needs, anyway.
Charlie.x.3000 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Probably equivalent to one cent in modern denominations.
Voidus Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Kelsier was rich, has rich friends, and was getting paid for his Mistborning by the rebellion. A single one of Vins party dresses probably would have cost more than every coin the two ever used for Allomancy.
