Humans from Mistborn

bdoble97

Question

Maby I should not ask this question yet because I have not finsh Hero of Ages. But on one of the littel info dumps before the chapter it said that the Lord Ruler had changed the humans so they could live in the atmosphere with the ash. Does this mean that humans from Mistborn could not go world hopping  due to the difference in the atmosphere. And a nother question who is Wit in Mistborn and again I probably shod not be asking theses queation untill I finsh the book but have not been able to read any in the past 3 days beacuse my daughters have been sick.

I don't think so, from what i gather the Lord Ruler changed them so they had a greater chance to survive the new climate but not in a way they had to be dependent on it. Don't remember if you at that point but there is an epigraph that mentions the Ash is not normal ash.

Other than there is something at the end of the book that might provide better answers.

Thank you. I remember reading that he changed the planets so they could desolve the ash. The more I read the more it makes the Lord Ruler seem like a better guy then they made him out to be in the beginning

You should probably finish the book first .HoA is very spoiler sensitive. One spoiler line could ruin the entire experience for you and you risk being spoiled when you open the forums since some of the information from the trilogy are casually thrown around.

you see him in TFE when kel goes to see an scar informant named Hoid (the name "wit" goes by) to make sure that nobody suspects that house renoux is a fake near chapter 16

also, i'm not sure how far you are in HoA so i'll put this in a spoiler, its not a huge spoiler, but still

Spoiler

Vin goes to see an informant in Fadrex (I believe) about something, but it feels wrong, like a set up or something, so after watching for a brief time she leaves without him seeing her

there may also be another time in the first era, but I don't know of one

I believe he's also in WoA, in the group of Terris refugees heading south. Elend speaks to him.

I don't think Scadrians would have any big problems while worldhopping (if they knew how), but non-Scadrians would probably have issues staying on Scadrial for longer periods of time (without some sort of magic or something to help them, anyway), since they aren't adapted to the ash.

Also, a bit spoilerish for BoM (era 2) (though Brandon spoke of some of it before it came up in the books):

Spoiler

The Lord Ruler also left a group of humans around the south pole of the planet (Mistborn takes place up north), and he changed them in a different way. They were kind of a failsafe in case his alterations to the Northerners and the ecosystem they live in didn't work out. The Southerners seem to have been changed to handle much higher temperatures, instead. That means that they would have had more trouble worldhopping, since they generally wouldn't be able to handle the "normal" temperatures of other planets.
