Spoiler Tags

Possible at all, or possible on this particular forum? Other sites, such as the Dragon Age Wiki has different tags for different types of spoilers, but I guess this forum might be using a different type of tool-set.

That's easier to do in a wiki where you can just create a spoiler template. On a forum I would need to attempt to code it myself, and that can be a bit nontrivial for my abilities.

I do kind of need to figure it out, though. I really want the Quote box to be able to link to an arbitrary thing, such as the interview database.

I admit I am ignorant of how this forum (or any internet site at all) is coded, and I might be guilty of taking it all a bit too lightly. Let me say that I am very glad you've all put in so much work to set up this site in the first place, and while it might be cool bonus to have specific spoiler-tags for each of Brandon's books, this is by no means an absolute must. I am quite happy with the site we already have

I am not sure this would be necessary, since most of us have imaginative ways of linking to the source material. I think it would be better to spend time on keeping theoryland.com updated than creating a specialized quote box.

 

One thing that would be a nice addition, though, would be a beginner's guide to how to make orderly and properly cited posts. If there already is such a guide on this forum, I am unaware of it, and a link to it in the welcome mail would be a nice perk.

The rules link is nicely prominent now. I noticed it yesterday and thought "Was that there before?" 

I did not know about the help articles, either. Those probably would have helped me find some features faster.

 

I am one of the many de-lurked by the Shardhunt, and I have to say that the process of doing the Shardhunt was a really great introduction to the various site features and abilities. I probably would not have explored several of those areas without being prompted, and it was much more fun than an orientation email. Obviously it can't be a mandatory initiation, but is there a way to emphasize the Shardhunt for members joining 17S in the future? When the steelhunt is essentially over, maybe the code on the final page could be replaced by other incentives, and the welcome email or post could point them to the start of that.

 

Just brainstorming: As far as incentives, maybe we could ask Team Brandon for an exclusive piece of content (pre-release chapter, concept art by Isaac, etc.) once every 6-12 months. Not enough to be burdensome but regularly enough to always have something new and exciting. The goal here is not so much to get stuff as to have a reward for our new and existing forum members.

Seems like this should be a new thread, but what about permission to post some of the unpublished cosmere works?
