Inspire she/her
Hi everyone! I'm here for the theory, conspiracy or otherwise, gossip, and wild predictions. I was drawn into Sanderson's world halfway against my will as I mourned the loss of Robert Jordan. I quickly realized that I liked Sanderson's writing style more than Jordan's (please don't hit me with things) and so I picked up Warbreaker and have been hooked ever since. I just finished reading the first 3 Mistborn for the second time, as well as the second 3 and the Secret History. While I cry and pout about what looks like a long wait for the last book, I have decided to give Way of Kings a shot. I gotta admit, I am having a REAL hard time getting into this book. I'm not going to give up, but damnation, this is not pulling me in like Mistborn and Warbreaker did. So, truth be told, I guess I joined up so ya'll would come out of the woodwork and tell me I gotta stick with it, that it's amazing, that you're horrified I'm not hooked yet, etc etc etc...Proceed.

Bugsy he/him
Hey! welcome to the forums! Have an upvote Don't worry about hitting. This is a Sanderson fan site, after all, not a Jordan one. Also, don't take any cookies, they're spiked. I promise I'm usually more talkative than this, but it's past midnight so I should probably sleep. G'night! Edit: Going to respond to your WoK comments. Sleep is for the weak, anyways. I definitely preferred Mistborn to Way of Kings, but I represent a minority here. Also, only 1 or 2 non Sanderson series beats the Stormlight Archive (WoK series name). The start is confusing and somewhat dry, with not much rising conflict, but it gets much better. The Stormlight Archive is Brandon's baby, and it's the centerpiece of the Cosmere metaseries (I'll leave that bit for someone without a test tomorrow). The biggest thing is that WoK is for someone who already trusts Brandon. You need to get to Words of Radiance (book 2) for it to reach Mistborn quality world wise or plot wise, in my opinion, but once you do it's worth it. I'd also highly recommend Elantris (his 1st published novel, so it's a bit unpolished) and Emperor's Soul, a Cosmere novella that is quite possibly my favorite of his works. I appologize for the rambling. As was previously stated, I should be asleep, and my brain has apparently gotten a head start on my body (no pun intended) Edited October 21, 2016 by Bugsy6912

Hiya! I am bleeder. You will not be hit with anything. I wear a lot of vests and I rant about music and stuff. Stick with Way of Kings, it's fantastic. I promise. Welcome to the Shard. We usually try to have educated conversations about the Cosmere and stuff, but usually end up veering off into topics such as baking, and each other's day-to-day lives. Hey, speaking of baking, if you are offered food by anyone, do not eat it. This is for your own good. Anyways, welcome! Good to have you, Inspire! P.S. Rithmatist tattoos would be cute. Oh, and by the way, it's generally preferred if you use the edit feature as opposed to posting twice in a row, just to consolidate space. Thanks! ShadowLord_Lith he/him
Hey there Inspire, glad you're here! What do you know about the Cosmere books? The Cosmere, if you don't know, is what Sanderson calls the universe he writes most of his books in. According to rumor, he plans to write an over-arcing, epic style saga, which will eventually connect all of his different Cosmere books together so eventually you might see Elantris working with Mistborn to help way of kings defeat the parahendi. For example. Good luck on the forum!

Tsidqiyah he/him
I shall be the annoying echo. Stick with the Way of Kings. I think Sanderson understood that this one would be difficult to break into As such he does a number of things with it to help First off we have the interludes these are chapters that really don't do much other then introduce us to the wider world (be careful about skipping them though you will miss things that will likely become important) Next we have the flashback sequences as i do not want to spoil anything i will just say these chapters are what got me to love the character as a person not just as a lead view point character. finally we have multiple veiw point areas that currently are widely spaced so we get a feeling of how the emerging conflicts are more then just one area. I will need to agree with @Bugsy6912 book two is much easier most likely because you are already invested in Roshar. and i will also concur "The Emperor's Soul" is my favorite piece of the Cosmere, But read elantris first so you can find the Easter eggs. P.s. nobody has ever offered me baked goods, but my English Toffee, sticky caramel, and Chocolate truffles will change your life. (I am a confectioner in real life.) P.s.s one of Melody's Unicorns would be cutest, but if it were me getting one I would choose one of the nine-pointed circles (maybe Taylor Defense) then put a allomantic symbol in the circle. AngelEy3 he/him
I shall continue the annoying echo. Stick with the Way of Kings. I started there after accidentally finding it in front of the copy of A Knight of Westeros that I was looking for. I was drawn to the cover art and ended up grabbing both books cause I had a 25% off coupon (I really should have spent a couple hundred, looking back.) Yada...yada...yada.... I was back at the book store 8 days later to pick up WoR. This was only 3 weeks ago, and I'm now about 2/3 into the first Mistborn book and still haven't cracked the cover on A Knight of Westeros.
Jedal he/him
Way of Kings is good. Read it. Kaladin>Dalinar>Shallan. Pretty good once you get 100 pages in or so. Also, books are good. Cookies are good. Kelsier is cool. Read Sanderson and await Hoid's backstory. Also, just for future reference, try as much as possible to avoid double-posting. I'm not scolding you, I am merely taking this opportunity to tell anyone who may be listening. *looks nonchalantly toward the secret hidden cameras in the shrubbery*

There's an edit feature you can use as well. That way, you can add thoughts and make the forums look clean at the same time Edit: Not referring to Bleeder, just adding on to his point, in case that wasn't clear Edited October 21, 2016 by Bugsy6912
