soyperson
I'm still rather unclear as to how Aluminum Feruchemy works individually. I understand how it worked in BoM, but am not sure how an aluminum Ferring would work. Any clarification would be lovely. Thank you.
1 Jondesu he/him
As a reference for myself as I write this, and for others, this is from the Coppermind (you likely read this before posting your question): Quote Aluminum[edit] Aluminum stores a spiritual sense of identity. This is an art rarely spoken of outside of Terris communities, and even among them it is not yet well understood. In Bands of Mourning, the sense of identity is something relating to Feruchemy mainly. The identity of a metalmind is what makes it so that one Feruchemist cannot use another's metalmind. If, however, a Feruchemist creates a metalmind while filling an aluminummind, the metalmind will be identity-less, allowing for any Ferring of the same metal to use it. This is how Wayne is able to use the goldmind he acquired in New Seran, even though he did not fill it himself. An aluminum Ferring is known as a Trueself. As it says, it's not really understood even within the Terris communities, and virtually unknown outside of them, except for in Southern Scadrial, where we only know they use it for the Bands. It's been theorized that tapping Identity could help you prevent or overcome magic systems that might alter something about you, like Soulforging, but considering I don't think we know of any that would be particularly prone to relying on your own Identity, it's hard to say. For now, I'd just say we don't really know what tapping Identity will do, or if storing has any benefit beyond creating unkeyed metalminds. jW

0 Ari he/him
There is some interesting stuff in the Mistborn RPG materials that's possibly non-canon about it being used somewhat analogously to Charisma in D&D- it's a sense of innate will and of what your personality is, so it can be useful to stop yourself from being persuaded out of your values, or even to argue more effectively. They give an example of a trueself politician as one of the characters for the Alloy of Law supplement, iirc. Now, as we saw with the Final Empire, some of their stuff is non-canon and wrong because Brandon didn't want to spoil things and so let them make up a power that seemed reasonable. (for example, Investiture in the Final Empire game is completely different to how it actually functions as of BoM) As such, they could easily be off about Aluminium ferrings, but it's worth looking at to give you an idea of what it could be, anyway. 0 Yata he/him
The Identity alone may be not much useful. But it will have (probably) some cool synergies with another magics. For example we know that to Soulcast something you have to overcome the subject Identity (be capable of improve or decrese you Identity give you a variable defense to Soulcast). You may be able to hack some inner limitation of many magic Systems (as we saw with the Feruchemy itself), probably you may retrive Breath stored by someone else or some other trick.
