Basic Lashing had me confused for quite a time. I mean, it makes sense that if you Lash yourself with quarter Lashing, you become two times lighter and if you use half of Basic Lashing, you become weightless.

But then I read that Basic Lashing works by cancelling the gravity's pull. And that's where the problem is. With partial Lashings you don't cancel planet's gravity, cause that would just result in being pulled up at partial acceleration.

If you Lash yourself with two Lashings, one upward and one downward, that results in being weightless.

My proposed model is that planet automatically files in with its gravitational pull if the object is Lashed less than one Basic Lashing. That way the norm for the object is to always have at least one Basic Lashing:

  1. 100% planet's gravity (normal situation)
  2. part planet's gravity, part Lashing (parts sum up to 1, partial Lashing)
  3. 100% (or more) Lashing (one or more Basic Lashings)

Probably the Ars Arcanum's Author doesn't experience of first hand the Surge and he/she thinks the original Gravity's pull is severed and replaced. Instead in reality a Base Lashing adds another "fake gravity's pull".

But Ars Arcanum is right on that: a single Basic Lashing up would make you accelerate at one g upward; if it only added another pull, then a single Basic Lashing up would make things weighless and two would be required to actually go up.

Sorry I misread what your doubt was.

The only thing that comes to my mind is Gravity Surge redirects the planet's gravity pull (PGP). With less than a Lashing you redirect just a fraction of PGP and the result is the sum of remaining PGP and the Surge's Gravity pull (SGP).

With a Lash or more you redirect (and boost) the whole PGP in your SGP.

This. A partial lashing only severs a part of the planet's gravity.

I do what I can. (Some of you with small children/siblings will know what I'm referencing here.)
