Ardjet Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I was reading the Axies interlude wherein he wakes up in the alley-kingdom. When he walks out into the street, he mentions people reacting to his shadow, which is pointing at the sun, rather than away. I happen to be re-reading Secret History, and also came across this from Blightsongs OdessyCon transcription: Me: Last year I asked you if shadows turn the wrong way in the cognitive realm for a reason, you said to basicly think of it like important flavor text. Is this happening because people are being drawn towards the Beyond? Brandon: Um, yea that part of it. Definitely. So what's the connection between Aimians and the Cognitive Realm? We know the Parshendi have a special connection to spren(by way of bonding with them), and that certain races on Roshar have shared ancestry with the Parshendi. Spren are beings of the Cognitive Realm. Could the Aimians also have a connection to the Cognitive Realm and/or spren? If so, what is the nature of that connection? 1
BrightVoid he/him Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 It could be a connection to the cognitive realm, because Jasnah occasionally has shadows that point the wrong way.
Nashan’Elin he/him Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 It could just be that they're more in the Cognitive Realm than most things, kinda like Lift (but not exactly)
Ardjet Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Which happens in the Cognitive Realm, as we see in Secret History. Also, the Horneaters can sometimes see spren, and also have some Parshendi blood. I feel there's something to these races and the Cognitive.
Nyali she/her Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 What I want to know is, why doesn't Lift's shadow point in the wrong direction at all times?
Ardjet Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Perhaps being a Surgebinder and having basically a symbiotic relationship with a spren provides some buffer from Cognitive Realm effects? *shrug*
Blightsong he/him Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I suspect that when a radiant says new oaths, they slowly are drawn father and fArthur into the cognitive realm, midst like how their spren are drawn more and more into the physical. If Jasnah has shadows that point the wrong way, my theory may be correct, as she is probably gather along in her oaths than the rest. If not, she may be accidentally else calling slightly into the cognitive realm, like how kaladin accidently sick things to a barrel.
BrightVoid he/him Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 What I want to know is, why doesn't Lift's shadow point in the wrong direction at all times? I thought it was obvious... It's because she's AWSOME 1
