Vander
Hey all! Would anybody be interested in an RPG set in the Wheel of Time world at the beginning of the Third Age? I don't see any active ones, so I figured I might as well. It'll have about five to ten participants (more, if someone helps me in writing) and be fairly long. Well, if people LIVE that long, in any case. No "undo's" or resurrections allowed. You can create your own character, though Channelers will be frowned upon. (That is, unless you can give an absolutely amazing reason for them to A: Not be insane OR B: Not be trying to stop the insane ones.) What do you think? Nashan’Elin he/him
This sounds like it could be pretty cool. So, directly at the start of the Third Age, like when Saidin becomes tainted, or maybe a little later?
Vander
While the male Channelers are still running about, but have been contained (their numbers lessened by the female Aes Sedai). Basically, the "Breaking" is still taking place, but not on as large a scale as before. Edited April 18, 2016 by Car'a'carn

Vander
How many spoilers will there be? WoT takes place about 3000 years after the beginning of the third age. I plan on avoiding the few perspectives there are, so there shouldn't be too many spoilers regarding the series. Mostly trivia, I should think. Also, for those interested: (again, not an actual spoiler, but just in case.) I'll be using a standard Earth map, as I'm pretty sure First Age and Second Age geography wasn't too different. This won't be nearly as accurate as you'd think, but it's the only thing the characters have for reference. Ill join Welcome aboard! Master Elodin, Nashan'Elin, are you interested? Master Elodin
I am in as long a s there are no or very few plot related spoilers for any books beyond the fourth.
Nashan’Elin he/him
I can do it. No idea how that'll work with the other three RPs I'm in, but we'll see.
Vander
Well, then! That's three people. Since the lowest is five, I'll wait a couple more days. Till then, I'll outline some basic stuff. Terms Angreal: An amplifier of magic. We won't really be seeing these, because there -shouldn't- be any Channelers among players. (Again, unless there's a very solid reason.) Sa'angreal: Basically a more powerful angreal. Also much more rare. Same as above applies. Ter'angreal: The name for a whole host of devices with different purposes. Usually operable by anyone, and the ones you'll want to look out for. Breaking of the World: If you don't know what this is, please refrain from joining. Channeler: Magic user. Enormously powerful, and dangerous. Especially the insane male ones. If you see a female channeler, great! If you see a male one, pray to your gods. And, you know, hide. Beware: There's no physical way of telling them apart from normal humans. Ta'veren: Doesn't really matter. If you see anyone who is called that, though, run for the hills. (Not that you'll see any...) I'll expand this list as necessary. Tips 1) Nowhere is safe. You can settle down in one place, if you so wish, but that makes you a still target. 2) Your companions are your life. Seriously. Keep them close. 3) Examine everything. You never know what might be useful. 4) If there's something potentially threatening, don't tempt fate. (Which is to say, try to AVOID danger. You're not getting any level-ups.) 5) Generally be cautious. 6) Expect to die. Rules 1) In accordance with 17thshard rules: a: Try not to swear. Mild stuff is okay, but otherwise, no. (And in any case, "Blood and bloody ashes!" is much more fun.) b: Keep sexual content to a minimum. Innuendo and non-explicit referencing is okay, to an extent, but no more. I won't write anything like that, either. c: This one applies to me more than anyone else, but nonetheless: Violence is okay, but don't get TOO graphic. 2) Don't take it personally. Seriously. 3) Be polite. Act like a decent human being. (Outside of the RP, that is. Within, you can be a chull. No personal attacks, though.) 4) Call me out if I'm being unfair, but don't simply say "You're being unfair" every time something doesn't go your way. That might not happen once, twice, or even thrice in a row. Beyond that, though, I might be getting biased. Vander
Hey, cool! People are starting to think of characters already! SilverBlade: Yeah, that would have been my first pick too. But, as Nashan said, it's not possible. Can my character have cuendillar daggers that he found on his travels? Hmm... let me look it up. I don't know how common cuendillar was, nor how it could be shaped. I'll get back to you. In the meanwhile, focus on the other aspects of your character: What's their name? Age? Their personality? What was their social standing? Background? Occupation? Skills? Quirks? "Issues"? That sort of stuff. (Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm asking everyone to do.) None of you are new to this, of course, but keep in mind that you'll want a good variety of people. I'm not going to say much more than that, though. Edit: Some (very) light research showed me that cuendillar weaponry is totally possible. Go for it, Master Elodin! I'm interested in who your character is, now... Vander
I'm curious, how mathematically advanced were people at this time? How much did they know of physics? Well, we don't know for certain, but consider this: The Second Age is basically Earth many years- perhaps millenia - in the future. As far as we know, the end of the First Age was nowhere near as destructive as that of the Second. The First (our time) ended with the discovery of the One Power and Channeling by the Tamyrlin, who is speculated to be the Dragon of that Age. As such, their studies were both more extensive and augmented by magic. Also, they drilled the Bore, which is basically a "rip" in the fabric of space-time. Put simply, anyway. Basically: Just take the most advanced science you can think of, and make it mainstream. That's probably not accurate, but it works.
Vander
Was there a government/royal line at the time? Cities? Government and Cities, yes. We don't know much, but what we do know tells us that there were large governing bodies and councils that interacted with each other positively. Think the UN, but actually collaborative. Officials were decided via their service to the community. Further, people were born with two names, but, if they had made an enormous contribution to society or science, they gained a third, such as Lews Therin Telamon, Barid Bel Medar. The Aes Sedai of that time were true to their name: "Servants of All." They were not under the direct command of anyone but their own organization, but worked to make their world a better place. So, I'm going to wait two days for more people. Once more come, I will start this up.
