Stormgate he/him Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I was thinking about how some Epic technology is visually similar, like the tensors (the real ones) and the rtich (mercury manipulation). So, could there be technology with interchangeable motivators, so you could change which powers you had at a time?
natc Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Both R'tich and Limelight had powers that were primarily telekinetic, which lends to relatively simple designs, I'd reckon. The Spiril needed special apparatus due to its nature. I'd imagine a Regalia glove set could be similar enough to be interchangeable with R'Tich, but we can't say for sure without knowing the mechanical inner workings of channeling the resulting power. If it works though, add pyrokinesis and aerokinesis equipment and we'll have the Avatar. If it doesn't cause interference . . . 2
Sunbird she/her Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Random side note: how do you guys pronounce "rtich"? I'm kind of torn between "ARR-tick" and "ARR-teach."
thek9 he/him Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) Random side note: how do you guys pronounce "rtich"? I'm kind of torn between "ARR-tick" and "ARR-teach." The audiobook pronounces it in the later fashion. I don't know if he did in this case, but Brandon has indicated that he generally does try to work with the narrators to ensure correct pronunciation in his books. Edited February 24, 2016 by thek9
Ari he/him Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 The book text outright states it should be pronounced like "teach", so...
