[SH, BoM spoilers] The Bands of Mourning

So, I was thinking about something. In the end of SH Kelsier says that he needs a new string to bind him to the physical realm, in BoM we find out that the "Bands" are a tip of a spear, could this be the spearhead that pierced Kelsier's heart? Would a spike that captured your essence (With Ruins or Preservations Intent) be able to bind you back to the physical realm?

 

The bands might not be the actual spear (In fact, I would think that the spike in Kelsier's eye is forged from the spearhead), it might be just a hint but could the spear have been used for such an act of hemolurgy?

potentially yes, but in order to become a spike, the spear needed intent. so, either the lord ruler or ruin wanted to make a spike out of kelsier. the lord ruler hardly had an interest in it, and at most he may have made a spike for inquisitors, one with an allomantic ability and very little relation to kelsier's soul. and ruin had no interest in bringing kelsier back; he'd done his job, now he could only mess things about. so it would take some contrieved reasons for the spearhead to become a spike.

Could Ruin not have provided the intent simply because he saw the opportunity of harnessing the powers of a mistborn? I'm not saying it would have been a special hemolurgic spike, just a spike med from Kelsier.
