kais Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Minutia of publishing - I'm now Amazon official (still e-book only). I did a few canned interview questions for blogs, and got a chance to share deleted scenes! Yay! Nick shall have his time in the light after all! 2
Robinski he/him Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Cool, I like the synopsis(?). I thought it was a bit odd that there wasn't a publisher link on the Amazon page, but maybe they don't do that.

In more publishing minutia, the pre-game is amping up for pre-sales. For digital stuff you're supposed to do a lot of blog interviews and such, so today they began.
kais Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Print is OUT! Since it is OUT out in print, it's even started getting reviews!! 3
neongrey Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 (edited) yaaaaaaaaaay! But why are the ebook and print separate listings entirely? Edited February 24, 2017 by neongrey 1
Robinski he/him Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Excellent - some of the covers that came up as suggestions when I clicked on First Don are truly terrible! Also, on Amaz.co.uk it's listed as "Ard: First Don: Volume 1" - which I thought was somewhat misleading. Hey-ho 1
kais Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 (edited) @Robinski can you confirm it is still that was this morning? It has the proper title when I look at it, but maybe it got corrected overnight? Thank you for pointing it out! @neongrey I think they're separate because ebook is still preorder. I think they go together once the ebook releases? I'll confirm. Ah, the joys of indie publishing. Edited February 24, 2017 by kaisa
Robinski he/him Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Different prices on the eBook and Physical book too? @kaisa it was about 10.5 hours ago. This morning for me

kais Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 1 hour ago, Ernei said: Just wondering, is it going to show up on goodreads too? It's already up! @Robinski yes, the prices are generally different here between the two forms. Amusingly, authors tend to get much higher percentages on the ebook.

I bet making the book is a big proportion of the total for hard copy.

And in case anyone wants specifics, I get about 40% of sell price for ebook, and the standard 12-ish% for paper. That's significant. It makes ebook publishing more enticing, even if it doesn't sound 'real' to many people. It's great to see your book in a Barnes & Noble (and indeed, I have a book there), but a check for a reasonable amount is surprisingly just as nice. 1
Robinski he/him Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 (edited) Hey @kaisa, here the title of my order confirmation email. Your Amazon.co.uk order of "Ardulum: First Don: Volume 1" Edited February 26, 2017 by Robinski 1
Robinski he/him Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I.e. - I still think they haven't got it quite right on the UK website anyway.

Mandamon he/him Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Should be getting my signed copy fairly soon! 1
kais Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 9 hours ago, Ernei said: Did you get the copy already, or does it take more time? Mine are coming with the extra copies I have on order, so a bit delayed. I've had several shipped to me from buyers for signing, and it's hard to put them back in the mail when I don't have my own!
Robinski he/him Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 4 hours ago, Mandamon said: Should be getting my signed copy fairly soon! Hey - was that an option?
kais Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 1 minute ago, Robinski said: Hey - was that an option? LOL, he mailed it to me to sign. I'm going to get some book plates I think, for this reason, because while I am happy to mail back to friends, the cost involved for a greater audience is far more than I make on the book itself.
