Platysaur
I'd like to build on top of my previous thread about a broadsheet purports to have an account on a worldhopper who wears this mask, and is described to have "piercing eyes and a face like some otherworldly beast." I've never really made a theory before, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Southerner from Bands of Mourning. Furthermore, the account may have been exaggerated as we often see in newspapers and the like. Now, it appeared in a pool, so it's possibly a worldhopper. We know that Iyatil from the Stormlight Archive is a worldhopper, and she wears a mask. It's described as red-orange carapace mask. This is a flimsy theory, but what if Iyatil isn't from Roshar? What if Iyatil is one of the Southerners, from Scadrial itself? What do you all think?

I think the evidence points to Iyatil either being a descendant of SoScad refugees, or directly from South Scadrial herself. Specifically, of the Hunter clan that Allik mentioned. Specifically, of the Hunter clan that Allik mentioned. Yeah, I can't remember if Iyatil ever took her mask off or if it was ever mentioned that it may have been attached to her face, but if I remember correctly she always had it on. To me it certainly seems to indicate that she is part of some clan there.
DocHoliday he/him
Iyatil's mask has not come off, that we are aware of. Shallon does remark that the mask appears to have skin growing around the edges.

Khyrindor he/him
QUESTION (PARAPHRASED)Is Mraize a worldhopper? BRANDON SANDERSON (PARAPHRASED) Yes, he's been to a few planets, highly supervised by his babsk. QUESTION (PARAPHRASED)So what planet is she [Iyatil] from? BRANDON SANDERSONWell, that's kind of a hard thing to say. She has three planets she's "from". For example, she's living now on Roshar, but then she's from a different planet, but that's not the planet that her people are from. QUESTION (PARAPHRASED)So there was a mass exodus to that planet? BRANDON SANDERSONNot exactly. If you were to find a Japanese American, where would they say that they are from? Her people did not have a mass exodus. QUESTION (PARAPHRASED)Have we seen mass exoduses before? BRANDON SANDERSONYes, there are some in the cosmere. There's a mass exodus that is mentioned in one of the interludes in The Way of Kings. I'd say, given that WoB (Source), and the visual evidence, that it's safe to assume that Iyatil is either from Scadrial, but her species originates elsewhere, or she is from somewhere and her family was from Scadrial. Yeah, well there's no doubt in my mind she's one of the Southerners, or at least that is her heritage.
