Hi, everyone!

I'm new, obviously. What can I say about myself? I decided to join the 17th Shard after seeing representatives from the forum at the Bands of Mourning midnight release party. Probably my favorite 3 things I've read from Brandon are the Alcatraz books, the Reckoners series, and the Stormlight Archive (in no particular order).

Um... I'm a student at BYU-Provo, now 21 years old, and I love Salt Lake Comic Con and will use it and basically anything else I can come up with as an excuse to dress up as someone other than myself. I love to read--mostly fantasy/scifi, but I will step outside those genres on basis of recommendations--and my GoodReads profile has more on what books I've loved and hated.

Well, that's basically me... I'm looking forward to geeking out about all things Brandon with you guys!

Yep. I mostly stick with characters that are relatively simple to put together outfits for--ones that can be done with everyday clothes or at least without a whole ton of sewing on my part. Of Brandon's characters, I have a Mistborn outfit and one for Professor Phaedrus. Other than that, I have gone to SLCC as the Tenth Doctor, Sherlock Holmes (the Benedict Cumberbatch edition), and Marty McFly. I'm currently planning a Harry Dresden getup for Fan-X in March.

Yeah.  Er...I'm insane.  I not only sew, I learned how to make chainmail and scale mail specifically for cosplay.  There almost certainly is something wrong with me, but I'm cool with that.  :D

And, ooo.  Another Dresden Files fan, too!  And Doctor Who...and general nerdery...yes, you will fit in here.

You think there's something wrong with you? I think that's awesome! I wish I had the money to do cooler cosplay stuff. I was miffed just shelling out $30 for a "Splatter Con!!!" T-shirt for my Dresden cosplay.

I think there's probably something wrong with me. I got my Sherlock cosplay out of the closet and wore it to classes on Jan 6th because that is Sherlock Holmes's birthday. Do you see what I meant when I said I'll take any excuse? :P

Did you take advantage of Pretend to be A Time Traveler Day back on December 8?  Because that is a thing that exists.

There are advantages to getting older; dual-income households with professional jobs makes a difference in the expensive hobbies quarter.

=o I had no idea that was a thing! If I'd known, I totally would have taken advantage of it.

Hello! I was at the release of Bands of Mourning as well! ( I joined because of the people at the Shadows of Self release) Hoppe you enjoyed your free time, because you won't have anymore with this site

Okay, I guess it's not completely true that I didn't have any free time. I somehow ended up with no homework tonight, so I'm alternating between lurking here and watching Hulu. XD

I think I will decline the welcome cookie... Being a good guy is more up my alley. ;)
