Havoc
What state do you all think Roshar will be left in by the end of Book 5? Book 2 left us with the most powerful country in revolt, Jah Keved pretty much destroyed, and disaster heading for the entire continent. With three more books to go, it will be interesting to see how far things can escalate. Personally, I think that a significant fraction of the population of the planet will have been wiped out. There will still be pockets of civilization, but none of the current nations will survive intact. The action in the second pentology will be split between Roshar, Damnation, and the Tranquilline Halls, making for the first Cosmere series set on multiple worlds. I'd also expect Scadrian world hoppers to play a role in the ultimate climax, given that Mistborn Era 2 takes place between the two sets of Stormlight books. Khyrindor he/him
I guess you could say...It won't be a perfect state. Forgive me. More on topic. That's totally what I expect too, And I really want (SoS spoiler) Wayne and MeLaan to be a worldhopping pair. I know Brandon will do something totally amazing, but I wonder just what can possibly fill eight more of those huge books.

Shaukan-son-Hasweth he/him
I think in the following books the secret societies of yesterday will become the leaders of tomorrow. Sons of honor. Knights radiant. Ghostbloods? Diagramm people. ( Lopen and the herdazians)
Yata he/him
The everstorm comes.... I think will wipe out most of life on Roshar I suppose that from the third Book, the Stormfather will be 24/7 here to guide the HighStorm to avoid the complete wipe out of Roshar. Because ok that nobody is ready for a Storm that come by the wrong way, but they can survive quite well to it, once they know of the Everstorm. Just the first time they may suffer great lost. DSC01 he/him
Personally, I doubt that worldhoppers will play a major part in Stormlight. Obviously, there's a connection to Nalthis, but I just don't know if the Cosmere story is quite at that stage yet. I'd say that there probably will be a lot of minor revelations and links to other worlds/series, but I think more of them will be Easter Egg-type things and not a major part of the plot. In particular, I think that Scadrial won't play a part any bigger than the appearance that Demoux already made (though I would be very happy to be proved wrong). I find that it's easy for me to forget exactly where we are in the greater tale of the Cosmere because I spend so much time speculating and reading WoBs and such. If you only had the books themselves to go on, you wouldn't know about Yolen or the existence of dragons or any of the many other little connections we superfans have made over the years. Heck, the Demoux appearance I just mentioned? I don't think I would have ever figured out that it's him in the Purelake interlude, or that the other two are Galladon and Baon, without the discussions here. Anyway, I think the projection that we'll have Scadrian worldhoppers playing major roles in the Stormlight finale is probably an example of getting ahead of the story because of all of that extra information we're privy to. But, again, if I'm wrong and things are moving faster than I think they are, I'd be very pleased. I have a suspicion that this Desolation may not be the disaster that previous ones were. Yes, things look really bad. In the past, there were 10 Heralds and a bunch of Radiants there to stand against the Desolation, and most of the population still died. However, everyone who wasn't a Herald or Radiant was basically a caveman who only had a weapon as nice as a crappy bronze spear because one the Heralds showed them how to make it. The lack of Heralds and dearth of Radiants is a major problem, but everything else is probably in way better shape than was generally the case during past Desolations. My prediction is that Roshar is going to be pretty battered but not totally devastated.
The Ninja Yodeler he/him
I wanna agree with Havoc. But it was always in my mind that Roshar was going to be completely destroyed. But idk if tht will happen at the end of book 5. And if it did happen, what would happen to any KR who happened to flee the planet? Would they even be able to get SL anymore? That's the only problem I see with that idea. But, Brandon did say we've already read the end of the series, and Tanavasts vision for Dalinar did show the the ground being ripped up into the sky IIRC. Seems like a world ending event to me. Just a guess. Edited January 23, 2016 by The Ninja Yodeler
DSC01 he/him
I do see the possibility that Roshar will be destroyed, and the survivors will flee to other Shardworlds, but I would see that happening in book 10. I would say that, no, Radiants wouldn't be able to get Stormlight anymore off of Roshar. They could figure out a way to hack other systems and fuel their Surgebinding with an alternate form of Investiture, but it wouldn't be Stormlight. Of course, if the Shards made it out and Invested elsewhere, they might be able to set up a system that provided something like Stormlight. I'm pretty sure that WoB confirms that the planets themselves shape how the magic systems express themselves, so if that did happen, it wouldn't be exactly the same as on Roshar. It would be very interesting if the series ends with all surviving Rosharans becoming refugee worldhoppers. It seems likely that this was how humans came to live on Roshar in the first place, so it would have a nice cyclical quality to it. That would also have huge implications for other Cosmere series in the future. I would then expect the sci-fi Mistborn series to feature a whole bunch of Rosharans.
taveren he/him
my guess is book 5 would end with the listeners being freed or maybe all the parshmen and there being a gap in the fighting as odum readys a replacement force
Yata he/him
There is a new WoB about the Herderazian-culture's survival after centuries after Stormlight Archive (but it is a little spoiler for who didn't read the novellas). I've got an interesting bit to add to this conversation. When I ordered Shadows Beneath, I asked Brandon to include some interesting larger-Cosmere-related tidbit about Dusk in the personalization. What he wrote is: "Dusk has had Herdazian food and _hates_ it." Maybe all this means is that one of the Ones Above has visited Roshar and acquired a taste for chouta, or they picked up some crewmates there, or have a Herdazian worldhopper among them, but there it is. Someone (somewhere, somehow) decided to give Dusk the opportunity to decide for himself that eating chunks of undefinable meat slathered in some dark liquid isn't really his cup of tea. EDIT: Okay, so the inscription was actually in my wife's book. Image attached! Dusk hates Herdazian food link to the posted WoB: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/13632-sixth-of-dusk-timelineones-above-brandon-answers-maybe-spoilers/?p=391814 Edited January 24, 2016 by Yata
