PerrinOrdeith
I bought a first edition/first printing of Well of Ascension in January last year and put it at the bottom of my "to-read" pile. I just opened it today after finishing my Final Empire re-read and noticed that the first page after the acknowledgements is in the middle of Chapter 2. The text starts on page 23 with "The man cried out. The night was no longer silent." A few pages later (pg. 30) begins Chapter 3. Is this a known mistake with a 1st/1st printing, or did I just get "lucky"? Looking over the binding I don't notice anything abnormal about it. It appears to be fully intact. I would imagine 20+ pages missing would leave a noticeable gap in the binding. Anyone else see anything like this with a similar 1st/1st copy?
KaIadin
Perhaps you got lucky. I haven't heard anything about this occuring in peoples' books.
The Invested Beard
You didn't loose pages. You gained a valuable collectors' item.
Kaymyth
It's possible that your missing pages are in there, just in the wrong spot. Every once in a while a book can get a binding error and have a chunk of pages that got mixed into the wrong place. Sometimes you can even get a section put in upside down, which makes for some fun confusing people when they see you holding your book wrong. Still, you might want to shoot an e-mail off to the Dragonsteel folks who run the Sanderson store.
PerrinOrdeith
Thanks for the replies. I'll keep looking through the book to see if I can find the missing stuff. I just makes sense that I would be "missing" pages. I bought the book off of ebay. It was an old library book. Unfortunately there were other physical issues with is as well. Stamps on the sides, other markings, etc. But the most disappointing was the plastic mylar protective cover was glued to the inside of the cover. It didn't come off easily and left it's own markings in the process. Oh well. I'll just have to try and find a better copy to replace it.
