lummi he/him Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 So Szeth and Kaladin will fight , if Kaladin wins will he refuse the shard once again ? Or will Syl tell him to take it because it is special and not like the other she doesn't like, maybe this one doesn't change the color of his eyes so he will not hate it as much ?
Cromptj he/him Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Kaladin does not hate lighteyes inherently, he hates that they lie and abuse the authority that they are given. He does not want to become one of them because he thinks it might change who he is. When the time comes, Kaladin will take up or create his own shards.

He has grown to really hate lighteyes themselves. There are several times where he says something like "All lighteyes lie/abuse authority." Whether or not he believes a Shardblade will automatically make him like them, I doubt he is interested in joining the club. 1
Cromptj he/him Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 But he would not take up the shardblade to become powerful like the other darkeyes who managed to kill a shardbearer, he would do it to protect his friends.
Havon Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Sorry if someone already posted this, but when Taln returned from Damnation he had an honor blade that was a pike. A pike and a spear are very close in form and design; they're both polearms. So in my estimation, it's likely shardblades can be polearms in form.

Actually, the exact quote is: His muscles glistened, wet as if he’d just swum a great distance. To his side, he carried a massive Shardblade, point down, sticking about a finger’s width into the stone, his hand on the hilt. The Blade reflected torchlight; it was long, narrow, and straight, shaped like an enormous spike. Althought, we have WoB that a Shardblade's form can be something else other than a sword, so there's nothing wrong with Kaladin getting Spear-like weapon.
Havon Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Last time I listened to this on audiobook, so spike sounded like pike to me. I'm going to laugh for a week if he gets an ashandarai.
