derpwerp
I'm only halfway through The Way of Kings, so keep that in mind. The armies are spending enormous resources harvesting gemhearts on the shattered plains. Those gems are to be used for soulcasting. Why not just use soulcasting to create those gems? Am I missing something?
cem he/him
It's not possible to create gems with Soulcasting. Shallan will mention it later in the book.
WeiryWriter he/him
It has been a subject of much debate on the reasons why, but it is mentioned in the book that it is impossible to Soulcast gems. My personal theory is that it is just a quirk of the magic system, similar to how aluminum can't be Pushed/Pulled.
