J-max04
I couldn't find a post directly discussing Trell and the metal from the end of SoS, so I decided to make a thread to show my theories and promote discussion. Here are some things to consider. Brandon said there was a shard that just wanted to hide and survive. Harmony is able to see kandra with normal metals, and presumably with the god metals from preservation and ruin, so its possible that the metal is: a. From a shard from another planet, but I feel like he would likely still be able to see a kandra with such a spike OR b. From the hiding/survival shard. This might explain how bleeder is able to hide. Trellagism might be an ancient religion. The two gods Trell and Nalt might be referring to adonalsium and its counterpart. Trell, being the god of the night, if it (he?) was a shard, might be able to hide bleeder. We know that the 4th book in the Wax and wayne series is called "The lost metal", which appears to refer to Atium. Miles talks about "the bearers of the final metal" before he is killed, which sounds similar. Is it possible that this title is meant to confuse us by making us think of atium? Does it really mean the metal that bleeder uses? Secondly, The third book will be called "the bands of mourning". The titular metalminds are said to give the lord ruler's power to anyone who wears them. I've always believed that feruchemy and hemalurgy are linked, and remember that the lord ruler's bands pierced his skin. Vin believed this was a protective measure, stopping people from pushing/pulling on them, but its possible that they were more than that. Hope something I said was interesting, and merry conversing. Full Metal Rithmatist
Given that the lord ruler is the only person to have the full range of powers ( and knowledge ) to make use of all 3 arts i find it unlikely he wouldnt have used hemalurgy on himself somehow. Though im somewhat expecting his arm bands to contain some form of the lord rulers identity and be the basis of some form of posession or rebirth rather than actually giving his powers. So whether they have anything to do with the metal i dont think so.
iBambam
We've had a few discussions about Trell and the new metal. My theory is that Odium somehow sent some I'd his investiture, which took form on Scadrial as a new metal, to Paalm. However there are strong arguments for the new metal being from Autonomy as well. It's very possible "Trell" is linked to the new metal, but not necessarily the old religion.
Oversleep
... Shouldn't it be in SoS spoiler board?
Moogle
... Shouldn't it be in SoS spoiler board? Cosmere Theories allows any published content to be discussed. No spoiler tags are currently necessary, though any threads discussing SoS content are required to be marked as SoS spoilers for a period of a few weeks. You can read the general forum spoiler policy in the rules. The updated SoS spoiler rules can be found here. Technically, the thread title should be marked with [shadows of Self Spoilers], but as it's been almost three months, it's not required, just something nice to do. I will go mark the title and make it slightly less spoilery. Edited December 22, 2015 by Moogle
Oversleep
It would be nice to have a system which filters out all the books you haven't read yet, but that would require for example tagging every topic correctly. I guess I will go dark when the SoS spoiler warning period will end, since I won't be able to read that until March
