King's Twit he/him Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) A lot of those things are fairly standard fantasy tropes for the "evil emperor" character. And, if you want to build up the stakes after you've killed off that emperor, you need someone even more powerful, like a god. That all being said, maybe Brandon deserves a royalty check or two. Edgedancer he/him Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Don't forget that in both cases the mentor died but didn't really stay dead and became one with the force instead a great inspirational figure. (era 2) And maybe: Lord Genome's head = The Bands of mourning? I guess at least TLR's child didn't join up with Vin? Does this make Marsh Viral? But yeah, the premise isn't really all that orignial, excpet maybe the fallen hero part.
