Hello everyone from Vancouver, Canada!

 

I'm new to the world of Brandon Sanderson. I have a copy of the first Mistborn novel on my shelf waiting to be read, and just received my copy of The Way of Kings in the mail today. I'm looking forward to reading them and getting involved in some of the discussions here.

 

I also have a a question - I hope it's ok to include it here along with this post! I was looking at my copy of WoK that arrived today. It's the trade paperback edition, and I noticed something odd about the binding. On the spine, the cover at the bottom of the book is glued to the pages like you would normally expect. However, at the top of the book, the cover is not glued to the pages, and you can look down into the spine, see the the pages glued together, etc. Is this normal? I was thinking it might be because of the thickness of the book, so it's easier to have open while reading? Or is the copy I received defective? Thanks to anyone who can help!

I only have an ebook edition of Way of Kings, so I don't know. If you have other trade paperbacks, you might look at them?

Which are you going to read first?

Thankfully the place I ordered from has a physical store nearby, so I can pop in there sometime to check out other copies and return mine if the need be.

 

Not sure which one I'll read first yet - they both look good! Does anyone have suggestions for which one is better to start with?

I'd say start with Mistborn. It's a finished trilogy, and also takes a lot less long to get through.
