Stormgate he/him Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Brandon Sanderson has made it known that there is an Easter egg in the map of Roshar. For context sake, here is the map of Roshar. I apologize for any quality issues. Anyway, I have a theory on what the Easter egg is. On March 20, 2014, this happened: SHICACA () I was looking at the map of Roshar and it kinda looked like a spiral galaxy to me, like it was flipping a certain way. BRANDON SANDERSON That was intentional. You are on to something that no one's figured out yet. SHICACA I was thinking it could be connected to people being able to manipulate gravity. BRANDON SANDERSON It's not exactly what you think you're on to, but you're getting close to something that [bold]they've all wanted to know for a while.[/bold] Then, just nine days later, this exchange was recorded: QUESTION Can you give me a hint in the easter egg in the map of Roshar? What particular skill do you need for it? Is it a different language or math related? BRANDON SANDERSON It's not linguistics. It is math related. Let me remind you this is not going to be a mind blowing revelation. It is going to be a nifty thing.[bold] Someone actually got close at one of my signings. They noticed something. [/bold]But it is a fun easter egg that will tell you more about the history of the world. (bolding added by me)My theory is that Roshar is a map for the Cosmere. In another WoB, he confirms that all the action in the Cosmere is in a compact dwarf Galaxy. I'd be more than willing to show it, but my tablet is having issues selecting that WoB. If anybody has come up with similar theories or has a WoB that disproves my theory, that will of course be taken into consideration, but I am fairly confident that my theory is correct, and I'm hopeful that I am the first to voice this opinion.
Charononus Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 It almost looks like it's made by modifying a fractal a little bit.
Left he/him Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Ooo, I'm really sorry, the easter egg in the Rosharan map has already been discovered and confirmed. The map is based off of a a kind of mathematical thing called a Julia Set. I don't understand it, but someone else will be on here soon who can explain it better. 1
Stormgate he/him Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Well, I did ask for it... Thank you for saying this, it actually clears up some details in one of the WoBs I used.
WeiryWriter he/him Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 As ScottLeft said, this has already been figured out. It was actually figured out back in April 2014. In the future it might help to do a forum search to make sure there isn't already a thread about the topic. Also I'm going to lock this thread now.
