Doubts about Shardholders and Appearances

Hi,

I have some doubts about Shardholders and the appearances of them in the books.

Just to be clear i haven't read all of the books yet. But I want to understand how it works so I do not get lost.

I know that the Shards of Devotion and Dominon are in SEL and the holders are Aona and Skai respectively. But i've read Elantris and do not see any information about it. The shards.

Anyway.

Someone could explain that to me?

Cause i've seen Ruin clearly in mistborn (Still need to read hero of ages but it appears in the end of Well of Ascension.)

If this is the wrong place to ask this please redirect it.

Thanks in advance!

These are some pretty big cosmere spoilers, not from any book in particular just the overall plot of the cosmere.

Devotion and Dominion have both been Splintered and their Shardholders are dead, that's why we don't see them.

However you might notice some similarities between the Elantrian pool and the Well of Ascension.

Ok Understood, but is there any book that I can found this informations? How does anyone know about this shards in SEL if it isn't in the book? I want to know more about the world =D.

About the well and the pool, you're right. Now that you said that, make sense to me.

Have you read the Way of Kings?

It's not really spoilery if you haven't, there's no real direct plot relevance, it's kind of like the Epigraphs in the Mistborn books where we find out about Devotion and Dominion.

Other than that, there's lots of interviews with Brandon on it, once you've read a few more books so that things aren't spoiled for you I'd thoroughly recommend looking through Theoryland. It's a database of interviews from Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, lots of really cool, interesting things that we only know from interviews.

Ok, Thank you Voidus, It clearly a lot to me.

No I didn't read Way of Kings yet. I'm finishing first mistborn trilogy first.

I've read Elantris, The Final Empire, Well of Ascension and Silence novella.

I'm gonna start to read Sanderson books in english now, cause His books just started to being published here in Brazil.

I just finished Well of Ascension, the last one published here.

Stormlight Archives will start to be published in 2017 only. But until there I expect to have finished the first two.

Thanks again! You really help me clarify things.

If you haven't read it, the 10th Anniversary edition of Elantris has a new Ars Arcanum which mentions it.

The Way of Kings mentions in the letter in the epigraphs that Rayse (Odium)'s brief visit to Sel ended up with Aona and Skai dead in the context of all the Shards that he's killed. We learn from Alloy of Law's Ars Arcanum that Sel has "form-based" Investitures, which lets you hook it up as being the planet of Elantris.

Moogle,

I've read the first edition. Good to know 10th anniversary edition has more informations... I probably gonna buy this edition for my Brandon Sanderson Collection.

The informations that you gave me made me see it more clearly... I think that as more books I read the informations that I need should appear.

Thanks for the info! ;)
