Mr paez Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Im listening to The Well of Ascension and Vin is visiting the lord rulers room in Kendric Sha. There a part where she mentions some of the items in it and one of those items is a flute. Could it be the flute that Wit gives Kaladin? 1
Jozomby he/him Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) The Well of Ascension happens chronologically before the Stormlight Archive, so if it is the same flute, at some point Hoid would have to come back to Scadrial to get the flute and then take it to Roshar. I think that was Wit wasn't it? That's definitely confirmed as Wit/Hoid, yep. How much else have you read of the Cosmere yet, by the way? Weltall Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I'd assumed the flute was something from before the Shattering on general principle but I never noticed the mention in Mistborn. If they're the same that would be just one more neat connection. Hmmm, maybe that's why (Shadows of Self 'spoiler') Brandon said that Hoid and Wayne get along so well. They both like 'borrowing' things On the issue of when he could have gotten it if we assume they're the same flute, couldn't he have done it in Hero of Ages? That way he'd have it before his visit to Roshar regardless of how the timing might work out in Well of Ascension (don't have my books handy, can't check right now). I do remember seeing a WoB somewhere where he confirmed that Hoid wants his flute back and that Sadeas had it. So it's probably going to show up again one way or another. 1

I always assumed it was Hoid's from the beginning (as in, he brought it from Yolen; yes, baseless assumption, I now realize) but this actually makes sense.
