Scadian Circuses

Awesome. Pure awesome.

Coinshots whizzing like birds around stages studded with metal, lurchers walking upside down on iron ceilings, thugs and brutes in staged wrestling matches, or throwing iron ferrings a hundred yards, blindfolded tineyes reading cards at 20 meters, brass ferrings walking through burning pits unharmed...

Anyone else have ideas?

could probably figure out some sort of crazy trapeze, hanging wire and moving platform contraption with a couple of Steel Twinborns. Maybe a Lurcher or two as well.

Have a highly skilled Seeker host a "Let me guess what metal youre burning" game.

Rig up some paintballs that have a tiny piece of padded metal as a base somehow or something, and let Coinshots play padded in a Paintball like arena.

Set up a area for a Cadmium bubble for a viewing area of spectacular displays. Watch them unfold at high-speed camera detail frame by frame!

Oooh. A more macabre exhibit for some *ahem* 'more thrill-seeking' patrons.

Set up a Gold Compounder to sit there and let people "murder" them - for a very hefty fee, course.

Set up a circular platform people can stand on with railings to prevent them from falling off. Have it set up above where stationed Coinshots are sitting. Maybe Steel Twinborn so they can also anchor themselves. Put have them flare their Steel, shooting the platform people are standing on into the air, and then let them fall back towards the earth, slowing them to a *somewhat* soft landing at last possible moment.

Zinc ferrring footraces. Have a ref inside a cadmium bubble at the finish line to get see the split-frame win shot.

These ideas all sound fun.

Allomantic knivethrowers sound like an entertaining idea.

Either pushing them extremly fast at the target person and only missing slightly (bonus points if they throw a whole bundle at once) or keeping the allomantic power of the thrower a secret and then pull the knive back at the very last second before they hit.

The same thing, only with guns. Coinshots would keep a bead on the blue line from the bullet from before it's loaded, and the shooter would have a series of cues so the Coinshot knew exactly when to push. Even more dangerously, you have a triangle of Lurchers on stage. You invite up an audience member, then fire a gun at them. The triangle of lurchers all pull with the same strength at the same time on the bullet, and it ends up hanging in the air an inch in front of the terrified audience member. They are then invited to take the bullet for a souvenir.

all that stuff seems pretty dangerous, the kind that at the smallest mistake will result in the death of perfomers (bad for hiring) or spectators (bad for business).

On the other hand, I was thinking a new sport could be conceived, pushball. it would work like basket, but with teams of only coinshots, played in a metal cage to allow aerial control, and with a metal bit into the ball. it could be awesome. or maybe ten people trying to push on the ball at the same time would just result in it being completely impossible to control.

Maybe a better idea would be allomantic football (european football; i think you americans call it soccer). this time no metal in the ball, only a metal cage to allow the players 3d movement, but they have to use the feet to control the ball and all other soccer rules are the same. for safety, rules would forbid the players from jumping over, say, 5 meters from the ground. could be played by coinshots and lurchers alike.

you do understand that it's incredibly difficult to get even one team of coinshots?

Yes I do.

But then, this thread is exploring potential uses of allomancers in a circus. I suppose any allomancer capable of performing the tricks described here could make much more money doing serious stuff.

This whole thread is purely hypotetical.

Please, keep being more realistic. I guess it's be fine with groups of 2-3 coinshots. But 10... that'd be quite hard to make... Sort of one team per each octan. And championship games will be quite spectacular. Say, like a ground with metal outlines  to push against, and some more around, and ball without any metal in it. And team can have any kind of allomancers.

I think that might be very popular.

Nope. They're free to be as speculative as they wish. Please refrain from telling people what to do, especially in a just for fun topic.

In addition to that, I think you're overestimating the rarity of Allomancy. During the Final Empire, House Venture alone had two dozen Allomancers on staff. Granted, not all were Coinshots. But by the time modern day rolls around, Allomancy has further diffused into the populace, and Coinshots are among the most common of Allomancers. I don't think it would end up being any more difficult than assembling, say a professional football team. The kind of people who have the talent you want are rare, but they're out there.

Which is the feruchemical metal that stores social connection? Could it be used to "store" heavily for the grips, so they can change sets quickly in the background and draw less attention?

Apart from the obvious (f-gold) which metal(s) would be useful for lion-taming and other animal-tricks?

Maybe have a melee type thing on the ground with Thugs capturing marks to score off while the Lurchers and Coinshots fly around above. And, yeah, any kind of allomancer could be doing more productive things with their talents. However, those things might just not be as fun as organized sports. Technically, wrestlers could be more useful as police officers. But they like wrestling. Plus, people don't try to shoot wrestlers

EDIT:

Steel, in the form of an easily manipulated rod or club, padded with cord or wood, or alternately a brass, steel, tin, or otherwise folding chair. Feruchemically, I would go with Feruchemical steel - normal people can tame lions just fine, and, in a circus, if you can get to the safety within 20 feet or so, you're probably safe. Also, this would probably be the best material to make gauntlets out of, which would be very welcome. Steelminds that double as armour? My question is, why hasn't anyone thought of this yet?

Chainmail and Feruchemical pewter, I guess. A Crasher like Wax could take advantage of metal studs in the lions' collars by increasing his weight and Pushing. Might be usefull to have a bunch of Lurchers hanging around to literally Pull you out of trouble, as it were.
