...Parshendi?! Just got my copy of the book, so of course, I am neglecting all else at the moment, while I leap into it. So I just arrived at the broadsheet on page 106, and there is an odd face at the bottom, under the headline, "VISITORS from other WORLDS." Thoughts?

Spoilers in the topic title? Please? I would rather not have had that bit of info spoiled just yet.

Sorry about that. I figured it didn't really spoil anything, 'cause I have no idea if it's a Parshendi or not. I mean, all I'm really giving away is that I thought I saw something that could be a Parshendi. I figure, if anything, it's just a little Easter egg and doesn't mean anything to the story. At any rate, if people think it's spoilery, then I'll err on the side of caution.

Better safe than sorry, especially around release dates.

On topic, though...

I wouldn't say it's a Listener. If you read the entire broadsheet (there are 4 quarter-pages throughout the book, and they form a full sheet) - and I am not spoiling anything here - you'll know that the drawing was likely a sketch artist's idea of what a spooked person saw in poor light. Though I find strong reasons to believe the creature was from another world.

I honestly don't know. The textual description in the article suggested something more... supernatural to me.

I think there's strong reason to believe that this pool is connected to the one from Elantris and the Horneater pools. It may be they aren't Shardpools like we thought, but something entirely different.

My personal view after reading the book and some of the other theories is that yes it is a Parshendi, probably on some sort of mission from Odium. There seemed to be an unusual amount of Hatred in this book that stuck out at me, not to mention drove away the mists at one point. Add that to the not so subtle hint from MeLaan at the end that there was another shard in play and the unknown metal that the spike was made from that enabled Bleeder to use powers. I think the Parshendi delivered the metal or spike and somehow got it to end up in Bleeder to undermine/distract Harmony.
