Ok, I've been around the 17th Shard for a little bit, but I've never actually done a formal introduction. Hello everyone! I am Patar. A friend introduced me to Mistborn and I've been hooked to Sanderson ever since. One burning question that I have yet to see a solid answer to is this (spoilers for the first and possibly second Mistborn books).

When Vin is fighting Shan Elariel, there is a second Mistborn with Shan that escapes. Do we know who this Mistborn is? I personally believe it is Zane, since Straff Venture was in on the assassination attempt (I think). Another interesting, albeit unlikely theory is that it is The Lord Ruler's child, although that is just wild speculation with zero evidence to back it up. Or it could simply be another noble Mistborn, but I don't like that answer.

Late Welcome!

I don't think this is the place for question but..

I don't remember any clues of the Identity of the other mistborn (I don't remember there was another mistborn either).

For the TLR's child. The only sure fact is his/her existence. We don't know when he's born or if he's actually alive or just if he reach the adulthood.

For been the TLR's child, he/she must be a Mistborn-Ferring or a Feruchemy-Misting, we know that the allomancy and the feruchemy don't mix very well together.

Probably he/she was a Mistborn-Ferring (for the amount of preservation power he had) and maybe TLR made him kill for the fear of the Allomancy-Feruchemy mixing.

Have a late upvote. What Sanderson books have you read?

I've read every book in the Cosmere, and I'm planning on picking Steelheart whenever I get the chance. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Shadows of Self, I love everything to do with Mistborn.

I remembered the other Mistborn (mainly because I reread the book recently in preperation for SoS), but I thought the other Mistborn died before Shan...

Didn't he fall from the top of Venture Mansion without any metal to pull/push on?

He did fall, but I think he survived. This is what is said by Straff Venture a bit later:

Elend sighed. "Did we capture any of the assassins alive, then?"

Straff shook his head. "One fell to the courtyard as he was trying to flee. He got away- he might have been Mistborn too. We found one man dead on the roof, but we aren't sure if there were other in the team or not."

This is on page 531 (paperback) if you want to check.

It very well could have been Zane. Otherwise the mistborn would have made an appearance during the siege. Another possibility is that it was just a misting who got lucky. My other theory though not as relevant, is that it was a weak Unknown mistborn who just died during the upcoming events.

I think you can rule out the lord rulers child though. He was too afraid of someone defeating him through a combination of allomancy and feruchemy that I do not think he would dare let any offspring live. I mean if he is the one enforcing the death of noble half breeds, you can imagine what he'd do to his mistresses after one night.

Either way the character was not relevant enough to be mentioned in the other books, and now in the new books, mistborn are a thing of the past and spook was the last mistborn to survive the world of ash.

TLR did have children, Brandon confirmed it in his Reddit AMA.
