Hey! I recently started reading a web serial called Worm, and it's completely amazing! Worm is the story of a young girl named Taylor who lives in a world of super heroes and super villians, collectively known as "Capes". She secretly has the ability to control bugs, and hopes to soon use those abilities to join up with the super heroes. This story is currently over 1,000,000 words in length and entirely posted online. The author, Wildbow, updates often and the only income they're getting from all this is through donations. Wildbow deserves some more attention because this story is one of the best I've ever read. It contains some of the most interesting and unique powers I've ever heard of. You won't find any superman type power sets here (minus one or two, but each with their own twists). It's got great characters and nice character development. The story flows well; in the entire time I've been reading it I haven't been bored once.

Worm is the type of thing that, at the moment, can only be learned about via word of mouth. It's not really advertised anywhere, and that's a shame. Wildbow deserves to get some more fans. Do Wildbow, and yourselves, a favor. Check it out. I'm crappy at explaining stories so check out the "about me" page linked below. Give it a shot. You won't regret it.

I started reading this a few weeks ago, and wow I can't believe I actually like superhero fiction, even if it isn't quite that. Be warned that the story starts dark and just gets worse. That said, Worm is amazing.

Just want to mention that I found out about Worm from this thread and it is worth the read IMO.

Be warned, it is very long and it is draining. I can get fairly invested in the characters and this can take you for a ride if you try to plow your way through the whole thing in a short time.

The story is finished now too, so if you pick it up you will be able to finish it on your own schedule.

At the risk of thread necroing, I just spent a few hours and finished reading it.

Wow. Nicely finished. I have a few quibbles, and I think Worm needs a massive edit, but still. Amazing to have written over 1.6 million words over the span of 3 years. Even Brandon could learn something from Wildbow.

Just finished it after reading on and off for a few months. It was good, nice to see a "gritty realistic grrrr" super-power story done so well and so in-depth.

Completely agree. All the likes.

On another note, am I the only person who actually liked Contessa and Eidolon?

Bumping an old thread -- glad to see some other Worm fans here even if only a few! For whomever sees this, I totally super recommend this serial and would love to have more people to discuss it with. It's really so good.

I'm still currently reading Worm, am taking it kinda slow but really really enjoying it. Right now I'm in arc 13. So I still have to avoid spoilers, but a lot of intense stuff has already happened and there are so many cool characters.
