Edgedancer he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 "Justice" is kind of a loose term here, considering most ATTD members won't receive actual justice for a while yet. Well... we could... let them trip? Or write mean poetry about them.

Kobold King he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Roses are red, Violets are purple. Deathwish drank bleach And choked as he slurpled. There once was a man named Nighthound Who wronged everyone whom he found. His tormented pet Ray Gave him his final day And put that old slontze in the ground. 6
Comatose he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Speaking of Nighthound, did we ever discuss how his powers work now that we know that gifting is actually a separate power that applies to all of an epic's powers? His original app claims that he can only gift the physical enhancements, and not the ability to domesticate or to heal. I'm assuming that domestication, since it is more of a quirk of his gifting, cannot be gifted, but healing can be and he just chooses not to? Or did we just decide to let him defy canon? I'm also still wondering about T-Swift. Since no one is volunteering a suggestion for her to impersonate, and I want her to be able to actually interact with people, how does one of the player characters employees or co-workers sound? It would have to be a vanilla, since she can't replicate powers, but other than that I'm open to suggestions! Out of the Dalles-loyal characters, I'd say Autumn, Scribbler, Vondra, Emma, or Deathwish could be fun to interact with, but I'd be open to RPing with others as well. If anyone I just listed would be opposed to having an acquaintance killed and impersonated, let me know!

I'd volunteer one of Jack's squad members but they get gifted to, so even without quirks in the behaviour the gig would be up immediately. As for interacting with Autumn in general, she's going to spend a lot of time near Reader, so that would be high risk teretorry. Edited September 1, 2015 by Edgedancer
Comatose he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 How about some sort of secretary or paper pusher? The threat of Reader seeing her could be both fun to try to avoid, or annoying if he finds her too easily, so it could go either way. Also, given Reader's current restrictions, I figured that while Autumn would still be checking in with him, he wouldn't have as much access to the rest of the "staff" (how much staff does the 'immigration committee' for lack of a better term, have anyways?). Also, in other news, I had an idea for a meta-epic power that I don't think has been written about yet, but is probably in Voidus's vault somewhere. I already have a lot on the go, so I'm not sure if I have room for another character, but I think this power could be a fun addition to any of the current plot-lines. If we do have a Rogue-style copy-cat epic all ready, let me know . Power: Adaptive Ressurection - This epic can resurrect instantly, and comes back with the power/skill/talent used to kill them If a person stabs them with a sword, they come back possessing that person's ability to use a sword. If they are shot, they acquire the person who shot them's knowledge of guns and marksmanship skills. If they are killed by an Epic, they gain the power used to kill them (Example: if killed by Rainmaker's lightning, they would gain her ability to distort the weather, but not her flight, shining skin, or PI ability). If we wanted an epic who could eventually be a big bad, the abilities they acquire could stack (which would be fun in a let's destroy everything kind of way), or if we wanted a more balanced minor epic, we could say they only aquire one ability/skill/power at a time. If more than one power/skill/ability is used to kill them (like if a super strong epic used a weapon to kill them) then they could gain that epic's skill with the weapon, AND their physical enhancement. One thing I think would be fun about this epic is that they could be constantly discovering new abilities, and getting more powerful over time. If we chose the second option, where her powers don't stack and are reset with each Resurrection, then we could have her be extra careful with her life whenever she gets a more valuable power, since she wouldn't want to lose it. It would also be cool if copying another epic's powers also gave her a portion of their brand of corruption, since she would be acquiring the power and the skill to use it, which would come from practice and use. Thoughts? 3

Thoughts? I love this idea. To the best of my knowledge we don't have anything similar to a copycat in our current cast of Epics--for much of the RP's history, such abilities were not considered possible in the Reckonerverse. Brandon only confirmed that they exist fairly recently. I especially like the reliance on deaths to grant her powers. How would you decide what skills she acquires in unclear cases? For instance, if she drove into a tree and died in the resulting crash, would she come back as a better driver? If Lightwards ordered a raptor to kill her, would she gain Lightwards' necromancy, the limited ability to control raptors, or something else entirely?
Comatose he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think it would depend on intent. Accidental deaths (such as the tree) would have no effect on her, and she would respawn normal (I like how I tried so hard to keep things gender neutral, but she still ended up a 'she' in my head). If a raptor who was just wandering around killed her, she would gain the raptor's physical characteristics (strength, speed, etc.) without any physical transformation. However, if Lightwards was controlling a Raptor and he used it to kill her, I think the power would attach to Lightward's intent, and she would gain his necromantic abilities. Basically, the question to ask is always "who/what killed her and how?" If the answer is epic X with power Y, then that is the ability she gets. Where I'm running into trouble with the intent model though is her intentionally putting herself in harms way to gain powers. Should intent be necessary? If not, then I think the Lightwards/Raptor example would remain the same, but the crashing into the tree option would perhaps make her slightly more resilient to damage, making her skin as hard/resistant as bark? Then the question would be whether or not she would burn easier if she acquired a tree's resistance to damage (I'm looking at resistance/immovability for what she acquires, since that is the aspect of the tree that caused the death via the car crash). I'm still not sure if I have a model that works effectively, so maybe this will take some more brain storming... 1
mail-mi he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Hey Twi, it's been a while since a Koschei flashback. What's the plan with those?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 Hey Twi, it's been a while since a Koschei flashback. What's the plan with those? The current plan is to take another stab at the next one and hope writer's block doesn't catch me again. I hadn't added one in a while in part because of the arrival of zanier Epics like Shiny Sparkle and Orange Crush, and a Koschei flashback would've felt out of place, I thought. Now there should be more opportunities to sprinkle them in, though.
Voidus Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think I started "And then Nighthound died" a few questions ago, when I randomly added that sentence to passages from LoTR and one of my grad school textbooks. Or maybe someone else started it and I just added it to random things out of boredom and hatred for Nighthound. From Questions 2 a quick search reveals: "Who wants ice cream?"Everyone raised their hands as Funtimes cheerfully began dishing up ice cream, pouring a generous amount of sprinkles on each bowl. "My dear Doctor," said Lightwards, "you may be an imbecile, but you do have a way with desserts." Funtimes giggled and gave him an extra scoop. And then Nighthound died. And it was indeed Twi who started the glorious trend. Speaking of Nighthound, did we ever discuss how his powers work now that we know that gifting is actually a separate power that applies to all of an epic's powers? If anyone I just listed would be opposed to having an acquaintance killed and impersonated, let me know! Scribblers parents were unattended all night I suppose, though that would rapidly escalate her up the Epic-hating scale to an 11/10 and she'd probably start tagging every Epic she could even before asking Vondra about it. She might even just start murdering them all. How about some sort of secretary or paper pusher? The threat of Reader seeing her could be both fun to try to avoid, or annoying if he finds her too easily, so it could go either way. Thoughts? I have an Epic who can become fictional characters and gain their abilities (As long as they're not supernatural), an Epic who becomes the person who killed them but not an Epic who gains traits from the person who killed them. (At least, none that I can find) So congratulations on coming up with a new power (If only forum badges were still around... *hint hint*) 2
