Popular Post KnightGradient
Remember how Kaladin's Shash glyph wouldn't heal, or take ink, because he still viewed himself as "branded"? Remember how at the end of WOR, Lopen's arm began to grow back? Is it because he still viewed himself as having two arms? If so, that means that every one-armed Herdazian joke he made was an attempt to convince himself he was ok with being a one-armed Herdazian.
king of nowhere
very possible. although i always took it that he is the kind of easy-going person that is capable of laughing at his own myseries.
Curious Anamaximder he/him
This is the saddest thread I have ever read. Worse than the Bad Day thread. Lopen needs a hug.
Adamir he/him
Time to derail the discussion away from Lopen before my tears short-circuit my PC. I always thought it was because Kaladin viewed himself as dangerous to those around him that the brand didn't fade; Shash, in the same way you would put a sign in front of a bear enclosure to warn people away. He just never allowed that to make him think of himself as a cripple. Since he didn't have that mental handicap, there was no obstacle for him using stormlight to heal his body. Kaladin's problem is that he not only was a slave, but be thought of himself as a slave for a long time. He still hasn't quite gotten over it in the same way the rest of Bridge 4 has. Because of that mental barrier, he can't get rid of the slave brand.
Alfa he/him
I think, that the slave brand of Kaladin is also one of his distinguishings to lighteyes and a memento what they had done to hime.

Because of that mental barrier, he can't get rid of the slave brand. I'd say more precisely that he wants to hold onto his time as a slave as something to hate certain types of Lighteyes about, which to be honest is perfectly reasonable in his situation. Once Kaladin is willing to trust people like Elhokar again, he might be able to get the tatoo over his brand.
